Joe Wicks. If you hadn’t heard of him before the COVID-19 pandemic, then you probably have now. The Youtube fitness instructor decided to help people through the lockdown by launching a daily PE workout lesson.

It has been an internet sensation, so much so that he has now found his way onto some betting markets.

The daily 30 minute PE workouts, which started at the end of March, are done live. That means that people at home get the chance to see him sweating and huffing and puffing. So there’s no editing to make him look superhuman or anything, and it’s all very real and down to earth.

It’s a great challenge to get people up and moving and staying in shape while under lockdown due to the pandemic. Now PE with Joe Wicks on The Body Coach TV channel has been a revelation and his popularity has gone through the stratosphere.

New Year Honours List?

Bookmaker William Hill has Joe Wicks as short as 2/1 to get recognised in the 2021 New Years Honours list, for example,* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:21 GMT on Friday, 10th April 2020).

For someone to have come out of the blue like that, turned a horrible worldwide situation into such a huge positive, is frankly remarkable. The fact that Wicks is so personable and real as well probably helps with his viewership.

Another market that Joe Wicks has appeared on is the 2020 Sports Personality Of The Year. Remarkably he is now the 8/1 third favourite to win the award at the end of the year.

Only boxer Tyson Fury and Liverpool footballer Jordan Henderson are shorter in the market than him at 8/11 and 6/1 responsively* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:21 GMT on Friday, 10th April 2020).
