Betting on non-winning teams in Portugal, Netherlands and Belgium

I covered the most popular European Leagues in my last article. Now I’m moving on to the not so popular winter leagues which nevertheless provide an alternative for us on those sparse days.

Non-winning teams in Portugal – La Liga

The top two here are household names being Porto and Benfica. The former is a street ahead as they head towards the last third of their programme.
Porto’s NON-WIN record is a miserable/ marvellous 11.1%. This from 2 draws and no defeats. Benfica’s on 23.5% Non-Win is accrued from 4 defeats. These two claim the one automatic Champions League place and the qualifying spot.
Third placed Sporting Lisbon are the only other side with a less than half, Non-win figure @ 47.1%.
Third to fifth places get a Europa Cup place.
The bottom two have diabolical records. With only two wins each. Portimonense have amassed 10 pts and Associacao Naval have only 9pts.Their Non-Win figures being
88.2% for each of them.
This looks to be a league were it pays to stick with the in-form sides. The good sides are very good and the bad sides are unbelievably bad. Naval have managed 4 goals
at home in 7 games.

Non-winning teams in The Netherlands – Eredivision

A few of these sides score goals for fun. Not the ideal fodder for Correct Score bets.
Not so cut and dried as some leagues with some unexpected turn-ups.
On the other hand the top teams can usually be relied on to give you a run for your money. When against the right opposition.
The top two, PSV Eindhoven (Non-Win 36.36%) and Twente Enschede (Non-Win 33.33%) have identical win figures of 12 each for 63.2%. PSV have played one game more.
Champions have an automatic Champions League spot. 2nd to 5th play off for a qualifying place. The three losers play in the Europa league.
The relegation position would baffle any barrack-room lawyer. Bottom club goes down, automatically. The 16th/17th sides play a series of elimination matches against 8,
yes EIGHT, teams from the First Division. The sides at present hovering above the trapdoor are, Excelsior (Non-Win 77.27%)  and VVV Venlo ( Non-Win 81.81%).

Home teams really do hold sway here. Playing at home they are almost twice as likely to score as the away team. PSV have so far netted 40 goals at homes in only 11 games. Bottom club Willem ( Non-Win figure 95%) has only managed 12 in 10 games. Away from home they have a miserly 6 in 11 games. They not only have the distinction of being the worst attacking team in the league but also the worst defending team with 53 goals against.
In general Home Wins hold a slight advantage at almost 52%. Draws and Aways are level pegging at 24%. Home teams have scored in all except 28 matches. (14.73%).

Non-winning teams in Belgium – Jupiler

One of the lesser European leagues whichever way you look at it.
The First and Second in the league only receive a Champions league Qualifer Spot. Third gets to play in the Europa League.
As might be expected the outstanding team over the years has been Anderlecht. True to form they’re again top of the bunch. At least for now. Their win figure being
66.7%. Closely followed by Racing Genk with 62.5%. KAA Gent (56.5%) and Club Brugge (54.2%) both boast figures in excess of 50%. Thereafter the figures fall away alarmingly.
At the other end of the table Charleroi boast a win percentage of 8.7. Only slightly better is Lierse at 13%.
In general home sides win 49.7% of matches. Draws and Aways are fairly close at 24.3% and 25.7% respectively.
Best attacking side, both home and away is Racing Genk, whereas Anderlecht boast the best defensive set-up, both home and away.
Here, as with many other of the lesser leagues, the good sides appear very good, and the rest seem to go thru’ the motions.

Remember, only bet with money you can afford to lose. Bet sensibly.
