Johnson takes over from May

He replaces the out-going Theresa May on Wednesday, whose leadership finally crumbled under the weight of not being able to secure a Brexit deal. Surprisingly it is 2019 which is the 11/4 joint-favourite to be Johnson’s exit date from the Prime Minister’s job* (betting odds taken from Betfred on July 23rd, 2019 at 9:13 pm)

So there is roughly a 30% chance that bookmakers are giving Johnson on not being in the job before the turn of the new year. There are some big deals ahead for him to deal with. The biggest is getting Britain out of the European Union. But Boris is a hardliner which draws plenty of criticism and he supports a no-deal Brexit move.

There’s also pretty from the other side of the political spectrum. Labour supporters were out in front of Parliament this week calling for a General Election. The next General Election is scheduled for 2022. The year 2022 is priced up as a 5/1 option along with 2021 as Johnson’s departure date* (betting odds taken from Betfred on July 23rd, 2019 at 9:13 pm).
