What next for Celtic who had a dreadful Champions League collapse in the third qualifying round. They looked well set after a 1-1 first leg away draw against CFR Cluj. But then it all fell apart for them at Parkhead, Celtic losing 3-4 on the night in front of their home support. So they are back in the Europa League after yet another Champions League misfire. In their last four games across all competitions, Celtic are now just W1 D2 L1 (90 minutes) so there is a bit of pressure mounting there.

Can they at least salvage their European campaign and reach the group stage of the Europa League. That is where they ended up last season, beating FK Suduva 4-1 on aggregate in last season’s Europa League playoffs. Then in the group stage, Celtic scrapped and battled to get to the knockout stage, but they fell at the first hurdle there, crashing out against Valencia in what was a tough draw for them. But still the positives for Celtic is they have been scoring well this season, and they will want to come out strongly at home first in this tie.

AIK are well into their domestic season, just over half so they have no problems with match sharpness or fitness. They were up in the Champions League qualifiers like Celtic this season, but they had an early exit the second qualifying round. They missed out in a thrilling tie against Maribor. So that left them in the Europa League where they got a third qualifying round win over FC Sheriff.

That’s what the Swedes have been up to in Europe this season. They haven’t managed to earn a clean sheet this season in their six European games. Five of their six have made it over 2.5 goals in fact, so that hints at plenty of goal action coming up in this tie. AIK Solna have lost two of their three games on the road, both defeats happening by a 2-1 scoreline.
