EFL Championship Matchday 2: Best Betting Football Tips

Norwich City vs. Wigan Athletic: EFL Betting Tip

Saturday’s early game comes from Carrow Road, as Dean Smith’s Norwich take on Leam Richardson’s Wigan. The Canaries will be looking to bounce back from an opening weekend defeat in South Wales. As you would expect, City are the clear favourites.

Norwich’s 2022-23 Championship campaign got off to the worst possible start last weekend, as Smith’s men were narrowly beaten at the Cardiff City Stadium. Nevertheless, after the first round of fixtures, the Canaries are still the bookies’ favourites for the title.

Our betting prediction:
Teemu Pukki to score first
15/4

Wigan are back in the second tier after winning EFL League One last term. They started life back in the Championship with a decent draw with Preston North End at the DW Stadium, with the game ending goalless. Can the Latics upset the favourites on matchday two?

Norwich have lost the winning habit after picking up just five victories on their way to Premier League relegation last term. However, they should see off Wigan at Carrow Road on Saturday. We like the look of 39/20 for the hosts to win -1.

Norwich City 7/10

Wigan Athletic 19/5

Reading vs. Cardiff City: Best Football League Betting Predictions

Paul Ince’s Reading take on Steve Morison’s Cardiff at the Select Car Leasing Stadium this Saturday. The teams had contrasting opening weekends, as the Royals were beaten at Blackpool, while the Bluebirds edged past Championship title favourites Norwich. Who will come out on top in this one?

Reading had a miserable 2021-22 season on and off the field, only narrowly avoiding the drop after a points deduction. They could be in for another tough campaign this time around. The Royals kicked off the new season with a disappointing 1-0 reverse to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

Morison has chopped and changed the Cardiff team in recent months, and the Bluebirds could be a dark horse in the race for the top six this season. Their campaign started with an impressive home success over Norwich, with debutant Romaine Sawyers scoring the only goal of the game.

Reading will be desperate for a positive result on their own patch, but we are backing City to return to the capital of Wales with three points in the bank. There is good value in Unibet’s 5/1 for the Cardiff win and both teams to score.

Sheffield United vs. Millwall: EFL Betting Odds & Predictions

Sheffield United and Millwall meet in a tasty-looking fixture at Bramall Lane this Saturday. The Lions are the early leaders of the second tier after picking up the biggest margin of victory on matchday one. However, Gary Rowett’s boys are the underdogs in this one.

Sheffield United will be expecting to be there or thereabouts in the race for promotion this season, but they were beaten at Watford on the opening weekend. It was a tough game at Vicarage Road last Monday, with the hosts nicking a 1-0 win.

Millwall are top of the Championship table after a solid 2-0 home victory over Stoke City at The Den last week. Debutant Charlie Cresswell was the unlikely hero, scoring both goals for the Lions. A few days later, though, Millwall were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle by EFL League One side Cambridge United.

We can see Sheffield United being too strong for the Lions at Bramall Lane this weekend. Check out the solid odds of 19/10 for the Blades to be winning at half time and full time.

Millwall 18/5

West Bromwich Albion vs. Watford: Best EFL Championship Betting Tips on Matchday 2

On Monday night, West Brom and Watford go head-to-head at The Hawthorns. With both teams pushing for promotion to the Premier League this term, this early-season Championship clash in the West Midlands promises to be a cracker. Will we see a winner on Monday?

Steve Bruce’s West Brom started their season with a decent away draw at Middlesbrough. After going a goal down early on, the Baggies showed plenty of fighting spirit to battle back and grab a point at the Riverside Stadium. They will be hoping to follow that up with three points on Monday.

Watford had a dire season in the Premier League last year, but they will be gunning for an instant return to the top tier. They began life back in the Championship in the best possible way, picking up a hard-fought home win over fellow promotion hopefuls Sheffield United last Monday.

On paper, these two top teams look hard to split, so our money is going on the stalemate. Have a punt on the draw and both teams to score at 10/3.
