Football – Europe – Champions League Betting Tips

The other semi-final first leg will be played on Wednesday night with hosts, Bayern Munich, taking on Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena as the German club also look to nail down an early advantage against the favourites to win the competition.

Bayern Munich finished joint top of the group stage level on points with PSG, as Group B pretty much went the way everyone expected with Celtic and Anderlecht fighting it out for third place behind the two powerhouses. Bayern then crushed Besiktas 8-1 on aggregate in the round of 16 before seeing off Sevilla with a 2-1 aggregate win which included beating the Spanish club away from home in the first leg.

The German have won seven of their last eight overall in the Champions League and have lost just once on home turf from their last 22 matches; that defeat was to tonight’s opponents Real Madrid, and prior to that impressive sequence, they were handed a 4-0 rout by the same team as well!

Bayern possess a deadly goalscoring threat in Lewandowski (28 goals) who is ably assisted by Muller and Wagner.

Onto Real Madrid, and with the exit of compatriots and fierce rivals, Barcelona, at the hands of Roma in the quarter-finals, the way now seems to be paved for the visitors to clinch another Champions League title, but they may not get everything their own way against Bayern Munich, especially at the Allianz Arena.

Real Madrid obviously boast a rich heritage in the elite european competitions over the years, but perhaps there’s a couple of chinks in their previously impervious armour which have appeared in recent times; defeats to Tottenham and more recently, Juventus, have shown they may be more vulnerable now.

The Spanish giants registered a convincing 3-0 win away at Juventus in the first leg of the quarter-finals, but then crashed to a 3-1 defeat at home in the return leg, and although they survived that scare, this won’t have gone unnoticed.

Real Madrid have won five of the last six meetings between these two sides, but I fancy both teams to score here as my chosen pick.
