Borussia Dortmund Preview – Can Dortmund return to winning ways?
Although Borussia Dortmund will have to make do with a 3rd place finish in Group C as the hosts find themselves three points and significantly trail 2nd placed Sporting CP by goal difference, the German side will be looking to end their group campaign with a win here.
Dortmund had made an impressive start to this season’s campaign by winning both of their opening two games, beating Besiktas 2-1 away from home and then securing a 1-0 home win over Sporting CP but three defeats thereafter have halted their knockout aspirations.
Away and home defeats to Ajax and a 3-1 loss away at Sporting CP have done the damage but with just two defeats from their previous 11 home ties in the Champions League at least gives Dortmund a good chance of finishing the campaign with a win.
Besiktas Preview – Can Besiktas avoid whitewash?
Turkish visitors, Besiktas, sit rock-bottom of Group C without a single point to their name after losing each of their five group matches so far and all the visitors have left is pride and to avoid bowing out of European competition with at least a point under their belts.
However, having lost their last eight Champions League ties on the trot, Besiktas look to have a mountain to climb on Tuesday night in Germany, especially as the Turkish visitors have lost their last four away tis on the trot as well.
