Chelsea Prediction – Can Chelsea continue European progress?
Last season’s Europa League winners, Chelsea, were handed a heavy 4-0 defeat away at Old Trafford against Manchester United but Frank Lampard’s side have bounced back in positive fashion as they’ve put together a decent 4-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Away wins against Norwich City 3-2 and a crushing 5-2 win at Wolves have both been further added to by points with draws against Leicester City and Sheffield United respectively, and The Blues now occupy a more respectable looking 6th place on the Premier League ladder.
Chelsea last appeared in the Champions League two seasons ago where they made it through to the last 16 but were knocked out by Barcelona in a 4-1 defeat on aggregate. The hosts did hold Barcelona to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge though, so a visit from Valencia may well be a little easier for Chelsea tonight.
In addition, Chelsea have suffered just 1 defeat out of their last 12 home ties in the Champions League, which was a 2-1 loss to PSG, but they also possess a solid historical record against Valencia as the hosts are unbeaten in each of their previous 6 meetings against the Spaniards.
Valencia Prediction – Can Valencia raise their game?
After making a poor start to their new Spanish top flight campaign, Tuesday night’s visitors, Valencia, look to have their work cut out to get a result at Stamford Bridge against an improving Chelsea side on home turf.
Valencia have managed to register just 1 win out of their first 4 matches of the new La Liga season which was a 2-0 home win against newly promoted, Mallorca, who incidentally are level on 4 points with Valencia.
The visitors were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Sociedad at home while back-to-back defeats away from home at Celta Vigo 1-0 and the 5-2 thrashing at Barcelona on the weekend certainly doesn’t bode well for Valencia as they prepare for their trip to London to face Chelsea.

Chelsea are now starting to make progress under Lampard and look a more cohesive unit than at Old Trafford and Tammi Abraham is in excellent goalscoring form. Valencia have struggled on the road at this level and they could be undone at Stamford Bridge.
