There’s still everything to play for in Group C where all four teams still have a chance of extending their European football calendar in some shape or form, with the first preview featuring Crvena Zvezda taking on PSG with more betting tips on Tuesday night.
Although they sit bottom of the group, Crvena Zvezda trail third placed Liverpool by just two points but are four points behind this evening’s visitors, PSG, so the hosts can still qualify for the knockout rounds of the Europa League if other results go their way.
Formerly known as Red Star Belgrade, Crvena Zvezda started in poor fashion as they were without a win from their first three group matches, with a creditable draw against Napoli in a 0-0 draw on match day 1, being utterly ruined by heavy back-to-back defeats to PSG 6-1 and Liverpool 4-0, both away from home.
The hosts then recorded a surprise 2-0 win over Liverpool at home but then promptly lost away at Napoli on match day 5, and the odds are stacked against them here to get a result.
Onto PSG, and although they occupy second place in Group C and just one point behind leaders Napoli, there’s no guarantees that the French club will make it to the knockout stages as everything hinges on this last nailbiting match day 6.
The French champions were handed a 3-2 loss away at Liverpool to open up the group games, but they’ve since bounced back in style by recording a crushing 6-1 home win over tonight’s opponents as well as exacting their revenge on Liverpool with a 2-1 win in Paris.
These wins were either side of 2-2 and 1-1 draws with Napoli, and they’ll no doubt be keen to assert their authority in Belgrade on Tuesday night in order to book their place for the next phase of the competition.
