Inter now make a long-awaited return to Champions League football tonight after a six-year hiatus and I daresay the hosts will be desperate to at least avoid defeat in this opening group match. Tottenham suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League in Saturday’s early kick-off against Liverpool in a 2-1 loss at Wembley Stadium which doesn’t bode well for a trip to Milan for Tuesday night’s Champions League clash.
Tottenham had previously lost 2-1 away at Vicarage Road against Watford, so Mauricio Pochettino’s side aren’t exactly in their best mindset for this opening group match against Inter Milan. In addition, Dele Alli and first choice goalkeeper Lloris are both injured and will mist the trip to Milan.
Following the defeat to Liverpool, Pochettino has reacted by dropping defenders Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier, which can only add to Tottenham’s uncertainty in their defensive line with Davinson Sanchez and Serge Aurier their likely replacements.
With both teams in stuttering form right now, my betting tips suggest that a draw appears to suit both teams in this one.
