Liverpool Prediction – Can Liverpool edge ahead of Napoli?

2nd placed Liverpool registered a 2-1 win away from home at Aston Villa on the weekend but it wasn’t a straightforward victory as The Reds were a goal down and struggled for large parts to break a stubborn and well-drilled Villa outfit down.

The title contenders eventually prevailed though, and they’ll head into Matchday 4 on the back of 4 wins on the trot, which includes a heavy 4-1 win away at tonight’s opponents, Genk, on Matchday 3, Tottenham, Arsenal (on penalties in the League Cup) and the aforementioned win at Aston Villa.

Tuesday night’s hosts sit in 2nd place though in Group E following their 2-0 defeat in the opening Group E clash away at Napoli, but back-to-back wins against Salzburg and Genk have steadied the ship.

Salzburg are 3 points behind Liverpool, but the hosts know they just have to keep winning in order to progress through to the knockout rounds, but they’ve registered a 4+ goal margin victory in just 3 of their last 21 home ties in the Champions League.

Genk Prediction – Can Genk avoid a drubbing?

Recent results certainly haven’t been very encouraging for Belgian club, Genk, as they prepare for this tough trip to merseyside to take on an in-form Liverpool side at Anfield, having gained just 1 win out of their last 5 matches overall in all competitions.

That win came in the shape of a 1-0 home win against Cercle Brugge in the Belgian First Division A, but defeats to Standard Liege and Eupen in the Belgian domestic top flight along with their heavy 4-1 loss at home to Liverpool on Matchday 3 will have done nothing for Genk’s confidence.

Overall results in the Champions League have also been poor as the visitors are without a win from their last 9 ties at this level, while away from home, Genk have lost their last 5 matches on the trot, with losses at Maccabi Haifa, Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea, Valencia and Salzburg.

Their last 3 defeats also saw Genk lose by 4 goals or more following heavy defeats in 5-0, 7-0 and 6-2 scorelines respectively, but they could still be worth a shot at not letting things get out of control at Anfield.

Key-Facts – Liverpool vs Genk

Betting Tips Verdict

The odds are ridiculously low on a Liverpool win here, so I’ll side with Genk by using the handicap and hope they don’t get trashed.
