Once again Arsenal failed to deliver a league win. They went to Bournemouth on Boxing Day and left with a 1-1 draw. That was new boss Mikel Arteta’s first game in charge. Arsenal have now claimed just one victory in their last eleven league fixtures and are winless in three (D2 L1). Arsenal had to fight back to get their point against Bournemouth on Thursday. Arsenal have conceded the opening goal in 7 of their last 8 Premier League games. The one exception there was a 0-0 draw against Everton just before Christmas. The Blues had another collapse at home on Boxing Day. They suffered a 2-0 loss against Southampton in a result which few would have seen coming. But that was the third loss in four home games for Chelsea. Away from home they have lost two of their last three. So they are having some struggles. They did produce what was arguably their best performance of the entire season in their last away game. That was a 2-0 success which they secured at Tottenham. The overall away record this season for Chelsea is a positive W6 L3.

Chelsea have averaged 2.4 goals per away game in this campaign. But they have also had their defensive struggles, conceding an average of 1.9 per road fixture. With all of that, 67% of Chelsea’s away games have ended up going over 3.5 goals. Chelsea have been to three of the top six (after Boxing Day’s action) and have a W2 L1 record.
