Brentford v Bristol City Predictions & Betting Odds – 2nd October 2019

Victory on the road for the Robins

Brentford v Bristol City Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 2nd October 19.45pm

Thomas Frank’s Brentford welcome Lee Johnson’s Bristol City to Griffin Park on Wednesday night for an intriguing EFL Championship fixture. The Bees moved up to 14th after an excellent win at Barnsley last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Robins have taken 16 points from eight matches and occupy eighth spot. With both teams looking for all three points in this one, we should be in for a great game in the English capital in midweek.

Brentford News and Form – Bees to seal back-to-back wins?

Thomas Frank’s Brentford have had a slow start to their season. So far, the London side have won three, drawn two and lost four of their opening nine in the Championship. The Bees were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle, losing on penalties to Cambridge United.

Since losing back-to-back games to Leeds United and Charlton Athletic (both 1-0), Brentford have taken seven points from their last four. During that run, Frank’s boys beat Derby County and Barnsley, lost at Preston North End and drew with Stoke City.

At Oakwell last weekend, Brentford eased to a 3-1 win. The Bees put in one of their best performances of the season, with Ollie Watkins netting a hat-trick. Brentford responded expertly well after going behind in the first minute.

After an excellent display against the Tykes last weekend, can Brentford build on that by beating Bristol City at Griffin Park on Wednesday? Victory will put the Bees just two points behind the Robins in the table.

Bristol City News and Form – Can Johnson’s boys extend their unbeaten run?

Bristol City have made a solid start to their campaign. The club kicked off their season with a 3-1 home defeat to Leeds. Since then, however, Lee Johnson’s men are unbeaten in eight in the Championship, winning four and drawing four.

Ahead of the midweek clash with Brentford, Bristol City occupy eighth spot, three points adrift of league leaders West Bromwich Albion. The Robins have accumulated 16 points, scoring 16 and shipping 12.

Since picking up 13 points from a possible 15, Bristol City have drawn their last two. After battling to a 0-0 draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, City were involved in a six-goal thriller at Preston last time out.

The Robins raced into a two-goal lead at Deepdale, though Paul Gallagher pulled one back from the penalty spot just before the break. Six minutes after half time, Daniel Johnson’s penalty levelled the game at 2-2. Nathan Baker put City back in front on the hour-mark, but Patrick Bauer equalised with 20 minutes to go to preserve North End’s unbeaten home record.

Bristol City look a very capable outfit these days, and the club will be targeting a top six finish at the very least this season. At the time of writing, Johnson’s troops are available at 15/8 to make the play-offs.

Brentford v Bristol City Predictions

Bristol City win: The Robins got off to the worst possible start when they were beaten 3-1 by Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds at Ashton Gate on the opening weekend. Shortly after that, they suffered a Carabao Cup defeat to Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

Since failing to win any of their opening three league and cup games, though, Bristol City are unbeaten in eight in the Championship. They were unlucky not to have taken all three points at Deepdale at the weekend, but we can see them hitting back with victory at Griffin Park in midweek. The away win is nicely priced at 3/1.

After netting a treble at Oakwell last Sunday, Ollie Watkins moved to the top of the scoring charts with seven goals. Although we fancy Bristol City to prevail at Griffin Park on Wednesday, we’re also backing Watkins to get on the scoresheet again. The 23-year-old is available at evens.
