Cardiff City vs Birmingham City Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 2nd November 15.00pm

Cardiff City have been excellent at home this season, winning four and drawing two of six in the EFL Championship. This Saturday, Pep Clotet’s Birmingham City make the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium. With the Blues four points above the Bluebirds, Neil Warnock’s men could really do with all three points from this one. However, can Birmingham upset the hosts in South Wales?

Cardiff City News and Form – Can the Bluebirds continue fine home form?

Despite failing to win any of their eight away league matches so far, drawing four and losing four, Cardiff City have one of the best home records in the league. The Welsh side have dropped just four points on home turf (four wins, two draws), with only Preston North End (20) and Birmingham (16) picking up more home points so far.

Neil Warnock will be looking for a response from his players after their poor showing at the Liberty Stadium last Sunday. The South Wales bragging rights went to Swansea City, as Ben Wilmot’s first-half header gave Steve Cooper’s Swans a deserved 1-0 home win.

Cardiff will be hoping to continue their superb home form by claiming another three points on their own patch at the weekend. Birmingham are no pushovers, though, and the Bluebirds will be in for a tough game.

Key-Facts – Cardiff City vs Birmingham City

  • The Bluebirds are unbeaten at home in the league (four wins, two draws)
  • Birmingham have lost five of seven away matches in this season’s Championship
  • The Blues could climb into the top six with a win

Birmingham City News and Form – Can the Blues avoid a sixth away league loss?

Just like Cardiff, Birmingham City have been much better at home so far this season. Only Alex Neil’s Preston have claimed more home points, as the Blues have won five, drawn one and lost one of seven at St Andrew’s to take 16 points from a possible 21.

Birmingham have blown hot and cold on the road. The Midlands outfit have yet to draw an away game, winning two and losing five of seven. Since beating Charlton Athletic 1-0 at The Valley, Birmingham have lost three away matches in a row. Meanwhile, the club have lost six of their past seven on the road in all competitions.

Pep Clotet’s side are certainly a capable outfit, but can they cause an upset at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday?

Cardiff City vs Birmingham City Predictions

Cardiff City win: If the Bluebirds want to be in the promotion picture this season, their form of the road will need to improve drastically. The Welshman have not tasted an away victory since beating Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford on the final day of the 2018-19 Premier League season back in May.

However, things have been going just fine in Wales for the Bluebirds. Warnock has challenged his team to go the entire season unbeaten at the Cardiff City Stadium, and they should see off the challenge of Birmingham on Saturday. At decent odds of evens, it’s definitely worth backing the hosts to come out on top in this one.

Cardiff have won four home league matches this term, with three of those being by a one-goal margin. They beat Luton Town and Huddersfield Town 2-1 and Middlesbrough 1-0. Warnock’s men are priced at 11/4 to win by one goal again on Saturday.
