Cardiff City vs Preston North End Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 21st December 12.30pm

Neil Harris has won both of his home matches as Cardiff City boss so far. Will Harris see his side make it three home wins on the spin when Alex Neil’s Preston North End visit the Cardiff City Stadium in the EFL Championship on Saturday afternoon? The Bluebirds have been excellent at home this term, with just Preston and Leeds United picking up more home points so far. Who will come out on top in Wales this weekend?

Cardiff City News and Form – Another home win for the Bluebirds?

Since Neil Harris arrived at the club, Cardiff City have taken 11 points from a possible 18. The Bluebirds have won three, drawn two and lost one. Last weekend, Cardiff came from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Leeds United at Elland Road.

As I touched on, Cardiff have been superb at the Cardiff City Stadium this season. Only rivals Bristol City have left South Wales with all three points. Harris has won his first two home games in charge, as City have seen off Stoke City and Barnsley.

After two tough away games, Cardiff will be pleased to be back in front of their home supporters this weekend. The Welsh side head into this one as the 11/8 favourites.

Cardiff City vs Preston North End Head to Head

Despite Cardiff gaining promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season, Preston did the double over the Bluebirds in the 2017-18 campaign

A late Tom Clarke goal gave Preston a 1-0 victory when the pair last squared off at the Cardiff City Stadium

North End have won three of the last four meetings

Preston have won just once in Cardiff in 15 years

Key-Facts – Cardiff City vs Preston North End

  • Only Preston and Leeds have picked up more home points than Cardiff this season
  • North End have won just twice on the road in this season’s Championship
  • The Bluebirds have won three of their last four on home turf

Preston North End News and Form – Can the Lilywhites stop the losing streak away from home?

Alex Neil’s Preston North End have been in patchy form lately. After suffering four successive defeats to slip down the Championship table, North End make the trip to the Welsh capital having won their last two, seeing off both Fulham and Luton Town by a 2-1 scoreline at Deepdale.

The Lilywhites have been the best home team in the Championship so far, taking an impressive 29 points from a possible 36. However, only six sides have a poorer away record, as North End have won two, drawn two and lost six of ten on the road.

With both teams pushing for the play-offs, this is a big fixture for the pair. Neil’s side will be desperate to stop a run of three straight away defeats, but Cardiff are not an easy nut to crack on their own patch.

Cardiff City vs Preston North End Predictions

Cardiff City win: Back-to-back wins have shot Preston back up to third place in the Championship table. However, they are a whopping ten points behind second-place Leeds. Things are extremely tight in and around the play-off places, with only seven points separating third to 14th.

Cardiff will close the gap on Preston to just two points with a win on Saturday. Harris will be targeting a hat-trick of home victories as Bluebirds boss, and I fancy the hosts to nick it. The Cardiff win is priced at 11/8.

Since winning 1-0 at Charlton Athletic in early November, Preston have lost each of their last three on their travels, failing to score in all of them. Back Cardiff to keep a clean sheet in a narrow 1-0 victory (7/1) this weekend.
