Charlton Athletic vs Cardiff City Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 23rd November 12.30pm

Neil Harris starts life at Cardiff City with a tough trip to The Valley to take on Lee Bowyer’s Charlton Athletic in the EFL Championship in Saturday’s early kick off. Both sides are in patchy form, as the Addicks have taken one point from their last four games, while the Bluebirds are one of only five teams yet to record an away win in the Championship this season. What will unfold in London at the weekend?

Charlton Athletic News and Form – First win in five for the Addicks?

Championship newcomers Charlton Athletic made a superb start to their season, winning four and drawing two of their opening six. However, their form has dipped recently, as the Londoners have lost six of their last ten, winning just two of those along the way.

Since picking up an impressive 3-0 home win over Derby County, Charlton have taken just one point from the last 12 on offer. Before the international break, Athletic were beaten 2-1 by London rivals Millwall at The Den. At The Valley, meanwhile, Charlton have won half of their eight league matches, drawing one and losing three of the other four.

Having slipped down to 11th in the table, Charlton could really do with maximum points from this one. However, they could be in for a tricky game against Harris’ Cardiff.

Key-Facts – Charlton Athletic vs Cardiff City

  • Charlton have taken just one point from their last four games
  • Cardiff have lost four and drawn four of eight away league matches
  • The Addicks are a point above the Bluebirds in the Championship table

Cardiff City News and Form – Can the Bluebirds pick up first away victory?

Neil Warnock, who done a terrific job during his time in South Wales, opted to leave the club after Cardiff City’s disappointing Severnside derby defeat to Bristol City. Warnock has left the Bluebirds in 14th spot in the table with 21 points to their name.

Cardiff have one of the best home records in the league, taking an impressive 17 points from a possible 24. City have won five, drawn two and lost one, with that sole defeat coming in their last game against rivals Bristol City.

Meanwhile, Cardiff have failed to win on the road since beating Manchester United at Old Trafford on the final day of the Premier League season back in August. So far, the Welsh outfit have drawn four and lost four of eight away league matches. Will Cardiff put that right at The Valley at the weekend?

Charlton Athletic vs Cardiff City Predictions

Cardiff City win: New Bluebirds boss Harris will be hoping to get off to a flying start at Cardiff. The former Millwall manager worked wonders at The Den on a tight budget, and he certainly deserves a crack at a bigger club.

Although Charlton have been in poor form lately, Bowyer’s boys are not an easy nut to crack on their own patch. However, I fancy Cardiff to secure a rare away win this weekend. It could be close on the scoreline, so put some money on City to win by one goal at the top price of 3/1.

Charlton have scored in all bar two of their home league matches this season. Therefore, have a punt on Cardiff to win and both teams to score (15/4) on Saturday.
