Derby County News and Form – Will the Rams make it five home wins on the spin?

Phillip Cocu has had an indifferent start to life at Pride Park. The Rams currently occupy 16th place in the Championship table having won only five of their opening 16. Meanwhile, County have drawn six and lost five of the other 11, scoring 18 and conceding 21.

Despite their lowly league position, Derby have won each of their last four on their own patch. County have been superb at Pride Park over the last couple of months, sealing successive home wins over the likes of Birmingham City, Luton Town, Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough.

 

 

After narrowly losing the East Midlands derby to rivals Nottingham Forest before the international break, County will be desperate to hit back with a big three points this weekend.

Alex Neil’s Preston North End have arguably been the surprise package in the Championship so far. With a team packed with hardworking individuals, the Lilywhites have managed to win nine of their 16 league matches. North End are currently second in the table, two points behind leaders West Bromwich Albion.

Preston’s home form has been staggering up until now, as Neil’s troops have won seven and drawn two of nine at Deepdale. Away from home, though, North End have won just twice, drawing two and losing three along the way.

Preston have looked the real deal so far. The club have an excellent manager in Neil, and they will be expecting to be there or thereabouts in the race for promotion to the Premier League come the end of the season.
