Derby County vs Preston North End Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 23rd November 15.00pm

Phillip Cocu’s Derby County welcome high-flying Preston North End to Pride Park this Saturday. Alex Neil’s men are riding high in second place in the EFL Championship table at the moment. Because of that, the bookies have the away side as favourites in this one. However, the Rams, who have won four in a row at home, will be no pushovers at Pride Park. Get ready for what promises to be an enthralling fixture.

Derby County vs Preston North End Live Stats & Betting Odds

Derby County News and Form – Will the Rams make it five home wins on the spin?

Phillip Cocu has had an indifferent start to life at Pride Park. The Rams currently occupy 16th place in the Championship table having won only five of their opening 16. Meanwhile, County have drawn six and lost five of the other 11, scoring 18 and conceding 21.

Despite their lowly league position, Derby have won each of their last four on their own patch. County have been superb at Pride Park over the last couple of months, sealing successive home wins over the likes of Birmingham City, Luton Town, Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough.

After narrowly losing the East Midlands derby to rivals Nottingham Forest before the international break, County will be desperate to hit back with a big three points this weekend.

Preston have not got the better of Derby since a 2-0 home win on Boxing Day 2008

Key-Facts – Derby County vs Preston North End

  • The Rams have won each of their last four at home
  • Preston are two points off the top in second
  • The Lilywhites have the best home record, but they have picked up just two away wins this term

Preston North End News and Form – Can the high-flying Lilywhites secure a massive three points?

Alex Neil’s Preston North End have arguably been the surprise package in the Championship so far. With a team packed with hardworking individuals, the Lilywhites have managed to win nine of their 16 league matches. North End are currently second in the table, two points behind leaders West Bromwich Albion.

Preston’s home form has been staggering up until now, as Neil’s troops have won seven and drawn two of nine at Deepdale. Away from home, though, North End have won just twice, drawing two and losing three along the way.

Preston have looked the real deal so far. The club have an excellent manager in Neil, and they will be expecting to be there or thereabouts in the race for promotion to the Premier League come the end of the season. At the time of writing, the Lilywhites are priced at just 3/1 for promotion. Can Preston secure another vital three points on the road this Saturday?

Derby County vs Preston North End Predictions

Derby County win: Preston have a woeful recent record over the Rams, failing to beat them for over a decade. Meanwhile, Neil’s boys may be flying high in the table, but they have picked up just eight points from a possible 21 on the road.

Derby have really struggled for consistency this season. However, they have certainly found the winning formula at home, taking 12 points from a possible 12 since drawing three and losing one of their opening four. I fancy County to make it five home wins on the spin this Saturday, with the hosts priced at 7/4. I’m also backing the Derby win and both teams to score at 9/2.
