Derby v Ipswich Betting Preview – Championship 28th November 7.45pm

The Rams have been putting together a very solid season in the Championship and can further strengthen their position inside of the top six with a home win over the Tractor Boys on Tuesday night. Ipswich though are the ones with the head to head form between these at Pride Park, but they are not carrying the current away form into this latest trip there. Will they be able to upset the hosts?

Derby v Ipswich Betting Tips

Derby are tracking along well inside the top six in the Championship and this will be them playing a game in hand over everyone else above them. So they can strengthen their cause inside the top six. Depending on what kind of a margin they were to potentially win by, a victory takes them up to fourth or fifth. The Rams are on a two match winning streak in the Championship with a clean sheet in both and a Derby to win to nil wager at William Hill collects a price of 13/8 which isn’t a bad punt really. Derby have produced a home record of W5 D1 L2 and each of those five wins that they have collected have all been with a clean sheet as well. So the clean sheet is a great option for the home side. Derby have gone W3 L1 in their last four league home games too and have lost just one of their last eleven league outings (W6 D4 L1) home and away.

Derby’s top scorer this season in the league is Matej Vydra with eleven goals and he is the 7/2 William Hill first goalscorer favourite. He has five goals in his last three games so he is in form. The Rams are on a seven match scoring streak in the Championship and in each of their last four fixtures at Pride Park, they have scored at least two goals in each of them. But just to highlight how good their defence has been, only 25% of their home games have gone over 2.5 goals. In the William Hill correct score market a Derby 2-0 option is a good price of 13/2 while a 1-0 win for them comes in at a 6/1 quote. Ipswich do have a bit of form going at Pride Park, having claimed a win in two of their last three trips there (D1), but with struggles out on the road this season in the league, will they have enough to perform well there again? Ipswich have scored in 78% of their away games this season, but haven’t gotten the results.

The Tractor Boys have suffered five losses in their last seven league games away from home (W1 D1) and have only been leading at half time in one of their away games this season, trailing at half time in five of them. They are still on the hunt for what would be their first clean sheet away from home this season as well, but despite all of that not sounding very good, they are two points better off than they are at this stage last season. There are clear defensive issues for them though as they are conceding an average of two goals per league games away from home and have conceded at least two goals in each of their last three away fixtures. That has contributed to 789% of their away games going over 2.5 goals. Martyn Waghorn top scores for them this season and he is a 5/2 anytime goalscorer option for them and four of his nine league goals this season have been in away fixtures.

Derby v Ipswich Betting Odds

Derby 4/7, Draw 14/5, Ipswich 5/1

Derby v Ipswich Predictions

Derby have plenty of appeal to walk off with the home win in this one and they are probably a decent shot to win the game with a clean sheet in tow as well. Ipswich just haven’t been performing out on their road this season and will be vulnerable.
