EFL Championship Matchday 16: Best Betting Football Tips

Barnsley vs. Bournemouth: EFL Betting Tip

Valerien Ismael’s Barnsley and Jason Tindall’s Bournemouth clash in an intriguing Championship fixture at Oakwell this Friday. The Tykes have shown a massive improvement since their new boss arrived, while the Cherries are a point off top in second place.

Since taking over in South Yorkshire, Ismael has guided Barnsley to five wins from eight Championship matches. After narrow losses to Brentford and Blackburn Rovers, the Tykes picked up a superb 2-1 win against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium in midweek.

Our betting prediction:
Cauley Woodrow to score first

Bournemouth fell to a rare home defeat on Tuesday, losing 3-2 to unpredictable Preston North End. That was only the Cherries’ second loss of the season, and Tindall’s team remain second in the table. Prior to the midweek reverse, Bournemouth had taken ten points from their previous four games.

Friday’s fixture at Oakwell could go either way, but we fancy Barnsley to keep up their excellent form under Ismael by securing a narrow home victory. Have a punt on the hosts to win by one goal at 4/1.

Millwall vs. Derby County: Best Football League Betting Predictions

Millwall and Derby County meet in a big fixture at The Den on Saturday. With the pair in poor form, both sides will be desperate for all three points from this one. The Lions are the bookies’ favourites at 21/20.

Millwall made a solid start to their season, but Rowett’s men are without a win in their last seven. The London side have drawn five and lost two since a 2-0 victory at Deepdale in October. The Lions have slipped into the bottom half as a result.

Derby have had a miserable season up until now. The Rams have picked up just one Championship win, drawing five and losing nine of the other 14. Wayne Rooney has taken temporary charge of the team after the sacking of Phillip Cocu.

Derby are bottom of the table on just eight points, already five points adrift of safety. Unfortunately for County, we can see them crashing to a tenth league defeat of the season on Saturday. Back the Millwall victory at 21/20.

Norwich City vs. Sheffield Wednesday: EFL Betting Odds & Predictions

Championship leaders Norwich entertain Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road this Saturday. The Canaries stayed at the top despite losing at Luton Town in midweek. As for the Owls, they are still looking for their first victory under new boss Tony Pulis.

Norwich’s 3-1 reverse at Kenilworth Road on Wednesday was their first loss in any competition in two months. City’s excellent run of form has lifted them to the Championship summit, but Bournemouth, Watford, Reading and Bristol City are all just one point behind at the time of writing.

Since taking over, Pulis has lost one and drawn three of four. After a 1-0 defeat at Preston in the Welshman’s first game in charge, the Owls have drawn three in a row. The club from the Steel City are one point above bottom side Derby.

Norwich will be eager to strike back with all three points after the disappointment at Luton. Daniel Farke’s boys should ease past the lowly Owls on Saturday. Take a punt on City to win -1 at 5/2.

Norwich City 17/20

Watford vs. Cardiff City: Best EFL Championship Betting Tips on Matchday 16

Vladimir Ivic’s Watford and Neil Harris’ Cardiff go head-to-head this Saturday afternoon at Vicarage Road. If results go their way, the Hornets could end the week at the top of the Championship table.

Since a surprise 1-0 defeat at Oakwell in October, Watford are unbeaten in six, winning three and drawing three. In midweek, they were held to a 0-0 draw by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, which was their third draw in four.

Cardiff have not won away from home since October, but the Welsh side have picked up two big home victories in the last week. After thumping Luton 4-0 last Saturday, the Bluebirds cruised to a 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night.

Being the hosts, Watford are the favourites here. However, we are backing Cardiff to hold the Hornets to a fourth draw in five matches on Saturday. Check out the tempting odds of 7/2 for the draw and both teams to score.

Watford 11/10
