EFL Championship Matchday 2: Best Betting Football Tips

Peterborough United vs. Derby County: EFL Betting Tip

Peterborough welcome Derby to the Weston Homes Stadium this Saturday. Darren Ferguson’s men, who finished second in EFL League One last term, were heavily beaten on the opening weekend. Can Posh bounce back with a positive result against Wayne Rooney’s Rams?

Peterborough have had a tough start to their season. United were beaten 3-0 by Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in their Championship opener last Saturday. To make matters worse, Ferguson’s side were then hammered 4-0 at home by Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
5/6

Derby have also been tipped to struggle this season, but the Rams opened up with a decent 1-1 home draw with Huddersfield. They then came from behind twice to beat Salford City on penalties in the first round of the League Cup on Tuesday night. Can they keep their unbeaten start going?

These two could be involved in a Championship relegation scrap this season. Peterborough found it tough going last weekend, and we can see Posh falling to a narrow defeat on Saturday. Take a punt on Derby to win by one goal at 4/1.

Blackpool vs. Cardiff City: Best Football League Betting Predictions

Blackpool and Cardiff square off at Bloomfield Road in the Championship on Saturday. The Tangerines famously beat the Bluebirds in the 2010 Championship play-off final to book their place in the Premier League. This will be the seventh meeting between the pair since.

After winning promotion back to the second tier via the League One play-offs last term, Blackpool started life back in the Championship with a solid 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate. Shayne Lavery netted in injury time to earn Pool a point in Bristol. The Seasiders then beat Middlesbrough 3-0 at home in the cup in midweek.

Cardiff have also started with a draw and a win from their opening two league and cup fixtures. Before beating Sutton United in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, the Bluebirds began their Championship campaign with a 1-1 home draw with Barnsley.

Cardiff were one of the best away teams in the Championship last season, and Mick McCarthy’s men will be gunning for all three points on the Lancashire seaside on Saturday. Put some money on City to win and both teams to score at 9/2.

Huddersfield Town vs. Fulham: EFL Betting Odds & Predictions

After being held to a frustrating home draw by Middlesbrough last weekend, Marco Silva’s Fulham will want maximum points on Saturday. The Cottagers make the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Carlos Corberan’s Huddersfield.

Huddersfield picked up a good draw at Pride Park a week ago, with Mahamadou-Naby Sarr rescuing a point for Town. The week before, they beat Sheffield Wednesday on penalties to progress through to the second round of the EFL Cup. Corberan’s Terriers have made a steady start so far.

Fulham went into last Sunday’s home fixture with Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough as the clear favourites to get the points. £12m-man Harry Wilson put the Cottagers in front on his Fulham debut, but Boro equalised late on to frustrate Silva and his team.

After last weekend’s disappointing draw at the Cottage, we fancy Fulham to strike back with a big three points on the road on Saturday. In truth, the London outfit should be too strong for Huddersfield in this one, so take a punt on the away team to win -1 at 12/5.

Huddersfield Town 17/5

Fulham 5/6

Swansea City vs. Sheffield United: Best EFL Betting Tips on Matchday 2

On Saturday night in the Championship, Russell Martin’s Swansea and Slavisa Jokanovic’s Sheffield United go head-to-head at the Liberty Stadium. Both teams kicked off their league campaigns with defeats last weekend. The Blades are the slight favourites in this one.

Swansea’s league season started with a disappointing 2-1 reverse at Blackburn Rovers last Saturday. However, the Welsh side struck back with an emphatic victory at Reading in the cup on Tuesday, with Joel Latibeaudiere, Ben Cabango and Joel Piroe on target in the 3-0 win.

Jokanovic’s reign at Bramall Lane started with a surprise home defeat. Lee Bowyer’s Birmingham City left with a 1-0 win thanks to an early Maxime Colin effort. Like Swansea, though, United bounced back in the EFL Cup in midweek, beating Carlisle United 1-0 at Bramall Lane.

As both teams look to recover from opening defeats, this one could go either way in South Wales. However, our money is going on the draw. The stalemate and under 2.5 goals has caught our eye at 11/4.
