EFL Championship Matchday 8: Best Betting Football Tips

Cardiff City vs. Bournemouth: EFL Betting Tip

Mick McCarthy’s Cardiff welcome Scott Parker’s Bournemouth to the Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday. The Cherries, who are unbeaten after seven league games, moved joint second after the midweek results. Can Bournemouth win in Wales at the weekend?

Cardiff have had a mixed bag of results at the start of this season, winning three, drawing two and losing two of their opening seven. After a lacklustre display at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Wednesday, McCarthy will be looking for a response from his players in this one.

Our betting prediction:
Dominic Solanke to score first
5/1

Parker has made a good start at the Vitality Stadium, guiding the Cherries to four wins and three draws from seven. After a 2-1 home success over in-form Queens Park Rangers in midweek, Fulham moved into third spot, just a point behind leaders Fulham.

Both teams will be looking for all three points in South Wales, which should make for an exciting fixture at the Cardiff City Stadium. Cardiff lost their last home match, but we fancy the Bluebirds to battle to a draw here, which is available at 11/5.

Fulham vs. Reading: Best Football League Betting Predictions

Fulham bounced back from last weekend’s shock defeat with a stunning win in Birmingham in midweek. The Championship leaders will be looking for another three points when Veljko Paunovic’s unpredictable Reading visit Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon.

Fulham were back at their blistering best at St Andrew’s on Wednesday, with goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic (2), Denis Odoi and Harry Wilson giving them a resounding 4-1 victory. That was the London club’s fifth league win of their campaign.

Reading have won two, drawn one and lost four of their opening seven Championship fixtures. After no wins in four, the Royals picked up a precious three points in midweek, beating Peterborough United 3-1 at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading have lost all three of their away league matches this term, while Fulham have taken seven points from a possible nine at home. The leaders should strut their stuff in front of their home supporters on Saturday, and we fancy Fulham to win both halves at 23/10.

Fulham 2/5

Millwall vs. Coventry City: EFL Betting Odds & Predictions

Millwall and Coventry meet in an intriguing Championship fixture at The Den on Saturday. The Lions are unbeaten in four league and cup games, while the Sky Blues are joint second after a superb start to their season. Which way will this one go in south London?

Gary Rowett’s Millwall are tough to beat at home, winning three of their opening five league and cup matches at The Den. Only high-flying Fulham have won on their patch this term. The Lions are undefeated in three in the league, winning one and drawing two.

Mark Robins’ Coventry have been the surprise package in the Championship up until now. They have returned to their home with wins over Nottingham Forest, Reading, Middlesbrough and Cardiff. City also won at Blackpool a month back.

This is a tough one to call, so backing the draw could be the way to go here. The draw and both teams to score is available at the tempting odds of 7/2.

Millwall 29/20
Draw 11/5
Coventry City 2/1

Odds: 7/2 odds taken 2022 GMT, Thursday 16 September

Preston North End vs. West Bromwich Albion: Best EFL Championship Betting Tips on Matchday 8

After back-to-back home draws, Valerien Ismael’s West Brom will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they travel to Deepdale to play Preston this weekend. The Baggies are the favourites in this one.

Preston have recovered well after a poor start, winning three and drawing two of their last five league and cup fixtures. Like West Brom, North End have also drawn their last two in the Championship. In midweek, they scored a last-gasp equaliser to leave Sheffield United with a point.

After consecutive wins over Luton Town, Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Peterborough, West Brom have dropped points in their last two. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Millwall before a goalless stalemate with Derby County on Tuesday night.

Preston have been tough to beat in recent weeks, but we fancy West Brom to take home all three points from this one. Have a punt on Albion to be winning at half time and full time at Deepdale at 23/10.

Preston North End 14/5
Draw 47/20
West Bromwich Albion 26/25
