Karanka favourite in Next Birmingham Manager betting market

Next Manager Betting & Transfers

Birmingham’s turmoil for the season just got a little bit worse on the weekend as Harry Redknapp walked away from his managerial job at St Andrews. After having been brought in to keep them up in the Championship last season, which he did, a terrible start to the new season has been enough for Redknapp who has now left the Blues managerless. Birmingham have posted a W1 D1 L6 record for the season in the Championship, scoring just the four goals and are sitting second from bottom with only Bolton beneath them.

With the Blues already on a four match losing streak, their 3-1 defeat against Preston North End on the weekend was enough for Redknapp to throw in the towel. So now Birmingham are on the hunt for another boss and it is Aitor Karanka who has raced to the top of the Next Birmingham Manager betting market at Boylesports. The former Middlesbrough boss left the Riverside earlier this year and is available for work.

The 44 year old got Boro up to the Premier League of course during his four year stint at the Riverside, but only lasted half a season in the English top flight with Boro. So he has a pretty decent track record behind him and now Birmingham have to look for some composed steel to get them out of the mess that they are in. Karanka is a 7/4 option to back at the moment, with Lee Carsley at 5/2. Former midfielder Carsley is in the positive of caretaker manager role at the moment.

He has stated that he would like to be in a position to hold down the job full time according to news outlets. The only other real mover in the early Next Birmingham manager betting market is Nigel Adkins at 4/1 who is also out of work at the moment. His last job was with Sheffield United which expired last summer. Adkins was sacked after the Blades had posted their lowest league finish since 1983. He was actually sacked as Reading boss following a 6-1 defeat against yes, Birmingham back in December 2014.
