Leeds United v Swansea City Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 31st August 15.00pm

The top two in the EFL Championship lock horns at Elland Road on Saturday, as Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United welcome Steve Cooper’s Swansea City to Yorkshire. These two clubs have set the pace in the second tier up until now, as both teams have picked up an impressive 13 points from a possible 15. However, something has to give at Elland Road at the weekend. Will home advantage be key for the Whites, or will the Swans cause an upset at the home of the Championship title favourites?

Leeds United News and Form – Whites to march on to another win?

Before a ball had been kicked this season, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United were the Championship title favourites. The Whites have lived up to the hype so far, winning four and drawing one of their opening five league games to sit joint top of the table with Saturday’s opponents.

Leeds kicked off the new season with an excellent 3-1 win against Bristol City at Ashton Gate. They were then held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home by Sabri Lamouchi’s Nottingham Forest before securing successive Championship wins over Wigan Athletic (2-0), Brentford (1-0) and Stoke City (3-0).

Last weekend at the bet365 Stadium, Leeds put bottom club Stoke to the sword with real ease. Stuart Dallas sent them on their way with the opener in the 42nd minute. Ezgjan Alioski made it two five minutes after the break, with the in-form Patrick Bamford making it three.

However, Stoke got revenge on Tuesday night, beating Leeds on penalties at Elland Road in the second round of the League Cup. That was United’s first defeat in any competition since losing to Derby County in the play-off semi-finals back in May.

Leeds have looked the real deal in the Championship so far, and Bielsa’s troops will be looking for their fifth league win of the season on Saturday.

Swansea City News and Form – Can Cooper’s in-form Swans pick up a result in Yorkshire?

Swansea City have been the surprise package in the Championship so far. After losing Graham Potter to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, Steve Cooper, who was somewhat of an unknown entity, took over at the Liberty Stadium. The Welshman has been a big hit so far, guiding the Swans to six wins and a draw from seven league and cup matches.

The Swans beat Hull City 2-1 in South Wales on the opening weekend of the season. They followed up that win with a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Derby at Pride Park. Since then, Swansea have secured consecutive Championship wins, seeing off Preston North End, Queens Park Rangers and Birmingham City.

The Welsh outfit were patient in their eventual comfortable win over Birmingham last weekend. The Blues held the Swans out until the 63rd minute, but Kyle Naughton, Bersant Celina and Borja Baston scored in the 3-0 win. Cooper’s side then ran riot in the League Cup in midweek, hitting EFL League Two side Cambridge United for six in a resounding 6-0 win at the Liberty.

Having won five league and cup matches in a row, Swansea certainly have the momentum. Cooper and his side will not fear their visit to Elland Road this weekend, although the bookies have them priced at the tempting odds of 19/4 to return to Wales with all three points.

Leeds United v Swansea City Predictions

Leeds United win: Swansea have been excellent so far this season, but I can see them falling to their first defeat on Saturday. Leeds have grown stronger and stronger, and the hosts should nick the points at Elland Road. Check out the tempting odds of 7/1 for United to run out 2-1 winners.

Swansea are the top scorers in the Championship so far, netting 11 times in five games. I fancy the Swans to get on the scoresheet at Elland Road this weekend. Therefore, put some money on both teams to score at 8/11.
