Liverpool News and Form – Can Liverpool keep home winning form going?

Liverpool will for the first time this season, be charged with coming up a response to not having won a game. Their perfect start of the season was snapped in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United. Liverpool only managed a late equaliser there too. But they avoided defeat to stay unbeaten and they have their perfect home record to try and add to. Will they bounce back in style and make it five wins from five at Anfield?

It has only been two clean sheets that Liverpool have earned this season. Neither of those have happened at Anfield. Liverpool have scored at least two goals in all four of their home games, but they have conceded exactly one goal in each home fixture. Considering they have hosted Newcastle and Norwich, more would have been exceeded from Liverpool’s back line.

The Reds have power in attack of course and they average three goals per home game. Three of their four games at Anfield have gone above 3.5 goals. Lveprool have been ahead at the half time break in all four home games. Liverpool are on a staggering run of 42 matches in the league unbeaten at Anfield. Spurs still cannot get their domestic campaign going. A late goal from Dele Alli saved their blushes at home in a 1-1 draw against bottom side Watford last weekend. That was after their major misfire in a 3-0 loss at Brighton. The away form of Spurs has been the biggest downfall this season. They have yet to secure an away win with a D2 L2 record away from home. They have lost back to back road games as well, shipping a total of five goals in those two defeats.

Spurs have not been at the races defensively at all this season. It is just two clean sheets that they picked up all season. They have conceded at least two goals in four of their nine league games, which is well below their output of the past couple of seasons. All four times they conceded at least two goals this season was in an away game. Tottenham have conceded at least 2 goals in 8 of their last 10 EPL road games. Spurs have averaged 1.25 goals per away game, but have conceded at a rate of 2.25 per game.

Half of their away games have ended up going over 2.5 goals and the two losses which they have suffered away from home have both been by one goal margin. Spurs are currently sitting nine points worse off than they were at this same stage of last season’s campaign. Of their five away goals scored, four of them have been in the first half of matches. Harry Kane has two away goals for Spurs this season, one of them from the penalty spot.
