Graeme Jones’ Luton Town welcome Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion to fortress Kenilworth Road for an EFL Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon. The Hatters have been outstanding at home over the past couple of seasons, but West Brom head to Bedfordshire as the slight favourites. Can the Hatters make home advantage count, or will the Baggies take maximum points back to the Midlands?

Luton Town News and Form – Can the Hatters continue their tremendous home form?

Luton Town’s tough start to life in the Championship continues this weekend, as West Bromwich Albion visit Kenilworth Road. The Hatters have already faced Middlesbrough and Cardiff City, who are both expected to battle for play-off places this season.

Luton kicked off the new EFL season with a thrilling home draw with Jonathan Woodgate’s Middlesbrough. In a topsy-turvy game, Town looked to be heading for an opening weekend defeat. However, James Collins, who was prolific in EFL League One last term, rescued a deserved point for Jones’ men with five minutes left.

Luton were then seconds away from claiming an excellent draw with Cardiff in South Wales last Saturday. After falling behind to an Aden Flint goal, Matthew Pearson levelled things up with just four minutes left. Unfortunately for the Hatters, Isaac Vassell came off the bench on his debut to win it for the Bluebirds in the 96th minute. Still, they returned to winning ways in the EFL Cup in midweek, beating Ipswich Town 3-1 at home.

Luton were exceptional at Kenilworth Road on their way to winning the League One title last season. Town won 16 and drew seven of their 23 home league fixtures, scoring a staggering 57 times and shipping just 19 goals along the way. Can they make their home ground a fortress in the Championship?

This is a tough fixture for Luton against one of the big boys in the second tier, but Town back themselves to beat any side at Kenilworth Road.

  • West Brom claimed an impressive 37 away points in last season’s Championship
  • The Baggies are currently priced at 17/2 to win the league title

West Bromwich Albion News and Form – Baggies to return to winning ways?

Albion were held to a frustrating 1-1 by Millwall at The Hawthorns last weekend. An Alex Pearce own goal gave them a second-half lead, but Matt Smith levelled for the Lions with 15 minutes to go. Millwall then won 2-1 at the home of the Baggies in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Despite dropping points in their last Championship outing, West Brom started life under Bilic with a good 2-1 away win at Nottingham Forest. Albion fell behind at the City Ground, but goals from Kyle Edwards and Matt Phillips turned the game on its head in Nottingham.

West Brom were one of the strongest sides in the Championship last season, picking up an impressive 37 points on their travels. Only Championship winners Norwich City won more away games (10) than Albion (11).

After dropping two points against Millwall in the league and losing to the same side in the cup, West Brom will be hoping to get back to winning ways this Saturday. The visitors are the slight favourites at 13/8.

Luton Town v West Bromwich Albion Predictions

Draw: West Brom will fancy their chances of taking all three points on Saturday, but Luton are incredibly hard to beat at Kenilworth Road, with their last home defeat in league action coming way back in March 2018. With that in mind, I’m putting my money on this to end in a draw, which is priced at 23/10.

Last season, Luton scored the opening goal in 19 of their 23 home league fixtures. The Hatters are usually fast starters at Kenilworth Road, so back the hosts to open the scoring on Saturday at 21/20.
