Manchester City News and Form

The Premier League title race is going down to the wire. Manchester City have done just about all they can in their quest to retain the title. They are on a 12 match winning streak in the league at the moment, and just need one in each of their two remaining fixtures to be crowned champions again. This is their last home game of the term, so they will be pretty fired up for this one. This is now is just once again, three points which they cannot afford to drop as they trail league leaders Liverpool by a two-point margin. On home soil, Manchester City are on an eight-match winning streak and they have won all but one of their 18 home games played so far.

Raheem Sterling anytime goalscorer

Leicester did get the better of Manchester City back in December, that was when the Citizens were having their difficult month in the top flight, losing half of their six games. So that will probably be back on their mind just a little bit, but it could also serve as a motivation to earn some revenge. Once again this is all about pressure and how they deal with that. The Citizens have taken a clean sheet in 44% of home fixtures this season, picking up a clean sheet in all but one of their last five home games. Manchester City have scored in both halves of 78% of their home games this term and not too surprisingly 78% of their home fixtures have made it over 2.5 goals.

Their Citizens have averaged over three goals per home game this season, conceding just the 12 home goals during this campaign. Only four of their 17 home victories so far this season have been by just a one-goal margin. Manchester City have also been leading at the halftime break in 13 of their home fixtures and they have struck the back of the net in all home games played. They have opened the scoring in all home games played in the top flight this season, and really wherever you look at the stats, you expect them to pick up a home win here. This is just how they deal with the pressures of the mental side of the game.

Leicester News and Form

The win that Leicester claimed over the Citizens back in December, will count as arguably their biggest success of the season. But they had a lot of cheer last weekend when they claimed a 3-0 home victory over Arsenal. Leicester have taken a win in five of their last seven Premier League games (D1 L1) so they are not in bad shape at all at the moment. Will it be enough for them to pose a problem or two for Manchester City’s title ambitions? Leicester have produced a W7 D4 L7 on the road this season. In those games, they have scored an average of 1.5 goals per game.

In total, the Foxes have only taken a clean sheet in 22% of their road games during this campaign. As they have not claimed a clean sheet in any of their last seven away games, that is where it could get tough for them on this trip to the Etihad. However, they can take the positive of having scored in each of their last nine away games in the top flight.

Each of Leicester’s last five away games have gone over 2.5 goals, the Foxes having netted at least two goals in each of their last three away from the King power. Leicester have scored 81% of their away goals this season in the second period of fixtures. They are of course managed by Brendan Rodgers, and his former club Liverpool will be hoping that he can do them a pretty big solid by denying Manchester City a win.

Manchester City v Leicester Predictions

Manchester City to win: the form of Leicester is there and it suggests that this may not be the most comfortable of games for Manchester City, especially with the pressure involved. However, you can expect Manchester City to be right in the zone for this one and they have the scoring power to take apart a Leicester defence which struggles for clean sheets. Manchester City to dig out a win under pressure, without conceding.
