Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United had a fine 2019-20 season in the Premier League, going on to finish third ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal to take one of the four UEFA Champions League places.

Repeating that feat will certainly take some doing this term. In our Man Utd betting preview, we take a look at their chances of finishing in the top four this time around. For the best Manchester United betting odds and tips, head over to Paddy Power.

Latest Manchester United Odds & Tips – Can Ole’s boys make the Champions League again?

Manchester United did remarkable well to finish in the top four last season. It looked unlikely in the first half of the campaign, as the Red Devils struggled to keep up with the likes of Leicester City and Chelsea.

However, their form since the turn of the year was nothing short of exceptional, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s boys went on to finish in third spot on 66 points. After losing at home to Burnley in January, United went unbeaten for the rest of the campaign to pip Leicester to a Champions League place on the final day.

Key Facts – Manchester United

  • Man Utd are the most successful English club, winning an unmatched 20 league titles
  • United have not won the Premier League since the 2012-13 season – which was Sir Alex Ferguson’s last year in charge
  • Last term, the Red Devils won nine and drew five of their last 14 league matches

Manchester United Top Four Odds: Who are the Red Devils’ biggest challengers?

Chelsea

Chelsea only finished behind Man Utd on goal difference last term. With a transfer ban, Frank Lampard’s men did superbly well to finish in the Champions League spots. Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have already signed at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues will no doubt be a force to be reckoned with under Lampard next term. Chelsea are currently priced at 1/2 for a top four finish.

Tottenham Hotspur

By their high standards, Tottenham Hotspur had a season to forget last time around. However, Jose Mourinho is as experienced as they come, and it would be typical for Jose to work his magic and turn Tottenham into a tough team to beat once again. Spurs have several world-class players in their squad, and 3/1 for a top four finish looks a very good price.

Arsenal

Like rivals Tottenham, Arsenal also had a poor season. In the end, the Gunners finished in a lowly eighth place. However, they definitely improved under Mikel Arteta, and winning the 2020 Emirates FA Cup to secure European football will have done them the world of good. The Gunners are available at 4/1 to get back into the Champions League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers had another excellent season and were very unlucky not to book their place in Europe for the 2020-21 campaign. With Arsenal winning the FA Cup, seventh place in the Premier League was not good enough for a UEFA Europa League position. Still, Wolves look a very capable outfit. Wanderers are outsiders for a top four place at 9/2.

Manchester United Transfer News: Sancho move stalling?

Man Utd have been linked with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho for months. However, recent reports suggest that their move for the England international could have hit a stumbling block.

Whether Sancho joins or not, the Red Devils are expected to splash some cash before the season gets underway. Jack Grealish is still being linked, while one or two other names keep popping up.

United’s best bit of business came last season, though, when Bruno Fernandes joined the club. Fernandes has made a phenomenal impact at Old Trafford since arriving, and the Portuguese superstar will no doubt be pivotal in United’s 2020-21 campaign.

Our Manchester United Premier League Predictions: United to finish in the Champions League spots

This is another big season for Solskjaer and Man Utd. After such a superb end to the 2019-20 campaign, United will want to keep their momentum ticking and finish in the Champions League places yet again.

Winning the title seems out of reach as Liverpool and Man City look set to rekindle their rivalry for the Premier League trophy. However, United are odds-on for a top four position. It will be tough again, but the Red Devils should secure Champions League football for the 2021-22 campaign.
