Manchester United v Everton Betting Preview – Premier League 17th September 4.00pm

Everton’s season just hasn’t taken off at all. It has been disappointment after disappointment for the Toffees and they may have more to come on Sunday. Manchester United have been scoring freely this season in the top flight and they will be expected to have too much for the ailing Toffees, even without the influence of Paul Pogba who picked up an injury in midweek on Champions League duty. It will be a big occasion for Wayne Rooney as he makes a return to Old Trafford but it may not be a happy return in terms of the outcome for his team.

Manchester United v Everton Betting Tips

Manchester United will be looking to continue and build on the good season that they have already produced so far. They have been turning out the goals with at an average of over two per game. That’s a fantastic and consistent return from them to put up a W3 D1 record and even though they were pegged back to a draw against Stoke last weekend, they won’t be too worried about that. There will always be days like that. Romelu Lukaku, who Everton sold to Manchester United in the summer, scored again though for them to make it four goals in four league games for the Red Devils. Lukaku is trading as the 11/4 outright favourite in the bet365 First Goalscorer market and he is price of 4/5 in the anytime goalscorer market. Paul Pogba picked up a hamstring injury in United’s 3-0 win over Basel in midweek and will be out.

Manchester United have won 18 and lost just one of their last 24 Premier League home games against Everton. They are also unbeaten in their last three games against Everton at Old Trafford with a W2 D1 record from that. United have won their two outings on home soil in the top flight this season and both wins over West Ham and Leicester came with a clean sheet as well. Manchester United to win to nil at bet365 is going to have a huge appeal in this one at a price of Even money. Manchester United were strong on home soil last season, losing just once in the league and they have started strongly again there. There’s not much hint of an upset happening in this one. It may be worth a little flutter on the game going over 2.5 goals at 8/11 as three of United’s four league games have gone that way this term.

Everton are in a little bit of a shambles at the moment. They were dreadful, there’s no other word for it, in a 3-0 loss at Atalanta in the Europa League in midweek and their Premier League form isn’t much better either with just the two goals scored all season. When you sell your top asset, in this case, Romelu Lukaku, you have to be smart and bring in a proven replacement. They haven’t done that and it is telling because they have only scored two goals in their four games and only Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have scored fewer goals in the league this season than they have. Everton have also produced a joint-league-low attempts on target this term (seven, with Swansea). Everton are W1 D1 L2 for the season and with defeat against Chelsea and Spurs in their last two league outings, there are worrying signs about the manner of defeats. The Toffees are just lacking an edge at the moment. Wayne Rooney gets a quick return to Old Trafford and the former Red Devils is a price of 4/1 to net on his return there.

Manchester United v Everton Predictions

Manchester United to win: The Red Devils have shown plenty of strength this season and with Everton having already been brushed aside by Chelsea and Spurs this season, Manchester United are likely going to do a solid number on them. Manchester United to win to nil looks the right way to go.
