Within fifteen minutes of opening a book on Garry Monk becoming the next Birmingham City manager, it was suspended. As St Andrews chewed up and spat out another manager in the form of Steve Cotterill, betting flooded towards who his replacement would be.

It has been hard for anyone to hold down a job at St Andrews. In the last fifteen months they have gone through four different managers with Gary Rowett’s dismissal still baffling, and then Gianfranco Zola, Harry Redknapp and Steve Cotterill all had turns but were booted to the curb.
Punters were correct in that it was Monk who was named the new Birmingham manager this weekend.
