Newcastle v Crystal Palace Betting Preview – Premier League 21st October 3.00pm

The Magpies will be looking to get back to winning ways as they play host to Crystal Palace on Saturday. Newcastle will just be a little wary of the Eagles now that Palace have gotten off the mark for the season. But the Magpies showed good fight last weekend as they battled out a draw at Southampton. After beating Chelsea in a surprise first win of the season, can Roy Hodgson Crystal Palace push on for more points as they visit St James’ Park?

Newcastle v Crystal Palace Betting Tips

Newcastle are winless in their last three league games in the top flight with a D2 L record. Still, they have done pretty well at St James’ Park recently collecting a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in their last home game. It means that they are unbeaten in three home games now with a W2 D1 record and they are holding their own. They have only collected the one defeat in their last six games home and away in the Premier League. So Rafa Benitez’s men will carry a threat in this one and it looks good value to back both teams to score at Coral for a price of 10/11, now that the Eagles have broken their duck. Plus, Newcastle have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last three but they will get their chances going forward.

Last Six Premier League Head to Head

Crystal Palace 5 – 1 Newcastle
Crystal Palace 1 – 1 Newcastle
Newcastle 3 – 3 Crystal Palace
Newcastle’s 1 – 0 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace 0 – 3 Newcastle

Joselu is the 11/8 anytime goalscorer favourite at Coral for this one with Dwight Gayle a 5/4. The Magpies showed a bit of grit last weekend in fighting back from a goal down twice at St Mary’s to earn a 2-2 draw with Southampton. That wasn’t there at the start of the season. Yo would expect goals in this one and over 2.5 goals has some appeal at a price of 21/20. Newcastle are unbeaten in their last three Premier League home games against Palace (W2 D1) so are carrying form. They are actually on a decent run of form against the Eagles having lost just one of their last 13 against Crystal Palace across all competitions, winning nine of those thirteen games. So Newcastle boss the head to head. Since losing against Spurs in their home opener, Newcastle have come a long way.

So Palace are finally off the mark and in unexpected fashion as well as they got their first goals and their first points of the season against Chelsea Last weekend at Selhurst Park. The win was totally inspired by Wilfried Zaha who Chelsea could not contain. They needed that boost and Zaha is a 7/2 Coral anytime goalscorer option for this one. Palace’s other goal in the 2-1 victory over Chelsea was an own goal by the Blues, so Zaha is their only scorer for the season. They are still having a poor season and one victory won’t change that. They have not kept a clean sheet this season and have taken some hammerings at the back. In the Coral correct score market a Newcastle 2-1 result is up there at a price of 17/2 with only a 1-0 win for the home side and a 1-1 draw coming in shorter.

Away from home Palace have lost all four of their games this term, conceding eleven goals in the process. They got torn apart at Man City and at Man United, but the other two road defeats for the Eagles this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline only. So now that their home duck has been broken, can they get their first goal and first points away from home? Palace have been trailing at half time in three of their four away games this term (D1). Newcastle to lead at half time with Coral in this fixture is a 13/8 poke. Obviously, Roy Hodgson’s men have a lot of work to do yet to prove that they can get out of their troubles. They are eight points worse off than they were last season after eight league matches and wouldn’t get out of the relegation zone this weekend if they were to make it back to back wins.

Newcastle v Crystal Palace Predictions

Newcastle to win: How likely is it that Palace will go from seven straight defeats with no goals to back to back wins? Newcastle are great value to pick up the three points at home because they will find the space to exploit the Eagles who still have a tremendous amount to prove this season.
