US Open Tennis Preview – Sunday, September 1st
The action at Flushing Meadows moves deeper into the fourth round on Sunday as reigning champion Novak Djokovic steps out to face Stan Wawrinka. Djokovic has yet to drop a set in the tournament. He was however, suffering from a shoulder problem in his second-round win over Juan Londero. But he shook it off to beat Denis Kudla in the third round.

Will Djokovic battle through shoulder issues?
Djokovic has vowed to keep on going in the tournament despite the shoulders problems that he has had. He started suffering in the second round and he said that he was feeling considerable pain. But there were no signs of his problems in the third round as he took a straight-sets to win over America’s Denis Kudla.
So the Serbian has not dropped a set so far in the tournament but the competition level will start to step up here in the fourth round. He takes on former US Champion Stan Wawrinka in a high profile match. In his third-round match against Paolo Lorenzi, Wawrinka did take a three-set victory but the second and third sets in that match were decided on a tie break.
The recent form from Stan Wawrinka hasn’t been all that hot. He lost to Roger Federer in the quarter-finals of the French Open but didn’t get past the second round in any of his three tournament appearances between then and the US Open. You generally only get the best out of Wawrinka when the Slams come along. Even though he is taking on Djokovic who may still have an issue with his shoulder, we can’t look past the Serbian at all.
