Pellegrini gains popularity in Next Manager To Go Market

Punters shift towards West Ham boss

Next Manager Betting & Transfers

After Jose Mourinho eased a bit of pressure off himself with his Manchester United side picking up a win at Burnley just before the international break, betting attention in the Next Premier League Manager To Go market has started to shift. After back to back defeats in the Premier League against Brighton and Tottenham, there was some serious heat mounting on the shoulders of Mourinho.

But West Ham’s Manuel Pellegrini, only one of two other current Premier League managers besides Mouirnho to have won the title (Pep Guardiola) has had a nightmare start to things at West Ham. The Hammers have tanked to four straight losses after picking up a 1-0 home defeat against the newly promoted Wolves before the international break.

There has been a show of shambolic defending with ten goals conceded and despite bolstering their defence and their front line over the summer with heavy investments, they have managed just two goals in their four games. There was so much optimism around the club over the summer as finally the board had put substantial funds into the transfer market and they had gotten in Pellegrini, a proven winner at this level.

The return hasn’t been there though as the Chilean is at 7/2 with Coral in the Premier League Next Manager To Leave market* (betting odds taken on September 5th, 2018 at 5:56 pm). That leaves him as the second favourite behind only Jose Mourinho.

“The betting suggests Manuel Pellegrini will not see out the season at West Ham following his side’s poor start to the campaign where they have failed to win a point so far,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“We have seen a flurry of bets over the last couple of days on Pellegrini being the first managerial casualty in the Premier League this season where he has only Jose Mourinho ahead of him in the betting.”

The Hammers have had two very difficult away games, suffering big defeats out at Liverpool and then Arsenal. But it will be their lack of return on home soil which has raised the biggest red flags. They suffered a 1-2 reversal against Bournemouth in their first home game of the season, despite taking the lead and then there was the 0-1 loss to Wolves, conceding the goal in the 90th minute to totally deflate them.

After the international break is done, West Ham have a tough run of matches coming up as well. They make a trip to the unbeaten Everton before facing back to back home games against Chelsea and Manchester United. After a trip to Brighton, they then host Spurs.
