EARLY GOAL SCORING STATS – PREMIER LEAGUE

While it is a little late in the season to make good use of these figures, it is mainly the principles behind the figures that need to be looked at.
When a new season commences it would not be a bad move to refer to these figures until something more substantial can be garnered.
Some premier league teams like to hit the ground running. Get an early lead and demoralise the opposition.
I’ll give figures for the first 5 minutes and also 6th to the 10th minute.

                 1 – 5 mins   6 – 10 mins  Total
Birmingham         2            1            3
Chelsea            3            1            4
W.B.A              3            1            4
Fulham             1            2            3
Wigan              1            1            2
Everton            2            2            4
Spurs              1            2            3
Sunderland         2            2            4
Aston Villa        0            2            2
Man. Utd.          7            0            7
Wolves             2            3            5
Blackpool          1            1            2
Blackburn Rovers   2            0            2
Bolton Wanderers   1            2            3
Liverpool          2            1            3
Stoke City         0            1            1
Arsenal            4            3            7
Man, City.         4            3            7
Newcastle Utd.     1            1            2
West Ham Utd.      1            0            1

TOTAL             40           29           69

From these figures it appears that Villa and Stoke take a little time to settle down.
While Man. Utd. go off at speed and then rest on their laurels. It does show that an early goal is more likely to come in the first five minutes.
The above figures are taken with 55 games still to be played. Assuming average returns from these games that would give a season’s total of 80 early goals. This compares just a little unfavourably with the returns for the previous six seasons.

Going backwards, these totals were, 88, 81, 94, 78, 84 and 69.
This to me shows that barring the odd hiccup, early goal returns aren’t too much out of line with each other and should be expected to be roughly within range for any given season.

Different sides, depending of course on their style of play, apply pressure at various times throughout a match.
The following is a synopsis of Premier League teams are their best goal scoring times.

Birmingham.    76 to 80  86 to 90. 4 goals each period.

Stoke City.    46 to 50  6 goals  86 to 90  7 goals.

We are now in "squeeky-bum time" as far as the league positions are concerned. There are very few games which don’t have some kind of bearing on either European Qualification or Relegation. A good time to leave them alone, in my opinion. Consequently I’m going to turn my attention to Horse racing Systems for a while.
Remember, bet sensibly and responsibly.
