Premier League relegation odds are not in favour of a couple of the newly promoted sides.

Fulham being one of them, as they are back in the top flight after winning the Championship Play Off.

A dramatic 2-0 win after extra-time against Brentford in midweek saw the Cottagers rejoin the top tier of English football again.

On their last visit there they went straight back down to the Championship.

Fulham, however, are not the current favourites to suffer the drop in Premier League Relegation odds 2020/21.

Can Fulham survive a top-flight season?

Well even though they are not outright favourites for the drop, Fulham’s Premier League relegation odds are at even money* (betting odds taken from Betfair on August 5th 2020 at 23:12 GMT).

The last campaign that Fulham had in the Premier League was in the 2018/19 season. They finished second from bottom with a W7 D5 L26 record.

The Cottagers ended that campaign with the worst defensive record in the top flight. In total they shipped 81 goals across their 38 fixtures. They were also the second-lowest scorers.

It was at the end of that campaign that current boss Scott Parker took over at the helm. He’s done a fantastic job of getting them back up.

The question is, can he keep them there?

Baggies the favourite for the drop

West Brom dropped down to the Championship at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Despite finishing second behind Leeds in this season’s Championship, they are the 5/4 favourites to go back down* (betting odds taken from Betfair on August 5th 2020 at 23:12 GMT).

Because of the current drop in financial input for this year for teams, the financial stresses of trying to stay up are going to be huge for the newly promoted Championship clubs.

Spending isn’t going to be as easy.

But then spending isn’t always the answer as Fulham found out in their previous trip up to the Premier League. They went on a massive spending spree ahead of the campaign and still got relegated.

Villains 9/5 in Premier League relegation odds

Aston Villa only survived this season in the top flight by the skin of their teeth.

They are naturally near the head of things in Premier League relegation odds at 9/5* (betting odds taken from Betfair on August 5th 2020 at 23:12 GMT).

It will be interesting to see what Dean Smith does with the team, who could potentially lose star player Jack Grealish.

But Villa have already been linked with two of Brentford’s star players Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahama after the London club lost out in the Play Off Final to Fulham.

More of the possible relegation candidates

Crystal Palace are there in the mix as well at 5/2* (betting odds taken from Betfair on August 5th 2020 at 23:12 GMT) in Premier League relegation odds.

Newcastle are not too far behind after their proposed takeover fell through.

Following that, a lot of bookies moved the Magpies in from around 6/1 into their current 9/4 quote to get the drop* (betting odds taken from Betfair on August 5th 2020 at 23:12 GMT), the lack of an injection of funds was a massive blow for the Tynesiders.

Leeds are being seen as having a great chance of staying up in the top flight after winning the Championship.

They are currently at a 4/1 quote alongside West Ham, Sheffield United and Brighton in Premier League Relegation odds* (betting odds taken from Betfair on August 5th 2020 at 23:12 GMT).
