Reading v Norwich Betting Preview – Championship 30th September 5.30pm

After their third place finish in the Championship last season, much more was expected of the Royals this go around. But they are in the midst of a really poor season with just the two wins on the board from their nine games played and that has left them just the three points above the drop zone. Norwich are going well at the moment on a five match unbeaten streak of form and have won their last two away games, both of which were difficult ones, so they are carrying form and will be a threat in this one.

Reading v Norwich Betting Tips

Not the season that Reading were hoping for as they have gone winless in their last five games across all competitions in a D2 L3 record. In the Championship, their home form has been average at best with just a W1 D2 L1 record and they are winless in their last two at the Madejski (D1 L1). There has been just the one win in their last six league games for them home and away in the second tier, with defeats in three of them. So overall it has just not been clicking for them and after their third place finish in last season’s standings more was expected of them. But they are vulnerable at the moment and have taken just the one clean sheet all season. Both teams to score at bet365 returns a price of 8/13 and there is a trend as that has happened in each of the last five meetings between the two. Reading bagged a 3-1 home win over Norwich last season before turning around and losing 7-1 at Carrow Road. They are on a two match winning streak at home against the Canaries and the Royals are unbeaten in their last six against them on home soil (W4 D2). So the head to head reads pretty well for them, but their current form makes them a risky bet still.

Especially with Norwich on form, because the Canaries are now on a five match unbeaten streak of form and that is thanks to a huge shake up at the back. Over their first five league games of the season, they conceded eleven goals but in response to that, they have taken a clean sheet in each of their last five so that is a huge turnaround from them. Norwich to win to nil with bet365 comes in at a price of 4/1. Norwich have taken six clean sheets in ten games overall this season in the division. They are carrying good form away from home with back to back wins and those were 1-0 victories at Sheffield United and Middlesbrough, not the easiest of places to go to. All four of Norwich’s league wins this season have been with a clean sheet. Norwich last five games in the division have either ended in a 1-0 win for them or a 0-0 draw. That should narrow the bet365 correct score market a bit where a Norwich 1-0 result returns a price of 17/2 and the 0-0 is longer at 11/1. Norwich are just on point at the back at the moment, but they are not picking a tremendous amount of scoring power. Norwich are the lowest scorers in the current top 17 in the Championship.

Reading v Norwich Predictions

Norwich to win: With the Canaries having won at Middlesbrough and Sheffield United in their last two away games, they have to be a bit of value here to go out and take a win, albeit a narrow one, over the Royals who are just struggling to put it all together at the moment.
