Southampton News and Form

Southampton are just in a sticky patch at the moment, with their recovery towards survival having hit a bit of brick wall. Southampton have suffered back-to-back League defeats against Cardiff and Arsenal which leaves them winless in four in the top flight (D2 L2). Overall this season Southampton have posted a W2 D6 L5 record at St Mary’s in the Premier League.

They are however undefeated in their last two home games, having taken a win over Everton and a draw against Crystal Palace. Southampton have tallied up 15 goals from their 13 home games played. 69% of their home games this season have ended up over 2.5 goals.

The defensive problems are still there for Southampton. That is pretty clear to see because they have only recorded the one clean sheet since the start of November. They have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last eight Premier League home games, but the positive from that same sequence is that they have scored in each of those eight at St Marys.

Southampton don’t have a clean sheet in any of their last six League games home and away. Two-thirds of the goals which they have conceded on home soil have been in the second half of fixtures. Only current bottom side Huddersfield have a worse home record in the Premier League and Southampton have.

Key-Facts – Southampton v Fulham

  • Southampton are on an eight match scoring streak at home
  • Southampton have just one League clean sheet since November last year
  • Fulham have lost 12 of 14 away games

Fulham News and Form

There is just nothing going right from Fulham at the moment and Premier League survival doesn’t look like a realistic outcome. The Cottagers are on a three-match losing streak at the moment after suffering a 3-1 loss at West Ham. Fulham are still on the search for what would be their first away victory of this season, having taken only two points from their 14 games played on the road.

Fulham are currently on a four-match losing streak on their travels, having earned one point only from their last 12 away from Craven Cottage. It is that bad of a record from them. In their away travels, Fulham have only managed the nine goals but have conceded at an average of 2.5 goals per game.

Fulham have only earned one away clean sheet all season and 64% of their away games have ended up over 2.5 goals. Actually, 43% of their away fixtures in the top flight have finished over 3.5 goals. All but four of Fulham’s away losses this season have been by at least a two goal margin.

You can tally things up and see that they have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last seven, home and away. They have actually conceded at least two goals in each of their last four out on the road. Fulham have also been losing at the halftime break in 10 of their 14 away games. Fulham have both the worst away record and the worst defensive record in the Premier League.

Southampton v Fulham Predictions

Southampton to win: this surely cannot be a chance that Southampton will pass to land some big survival points. Their performances have been okay and with Fulham having been so poor on their travels. The best option is backing the home win.
