Swansea v Leeds Betting Tips – Championship, 21st August 7.45pm

This should be a cracking fixture down at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night as both sides have made a positive start to the new season. The Swans picked up a draw at Birmingham on the weekend to remain undefeated for the season. They haven’t been able to match the start of Leeds though who have stormed their way to three straight successes. Read our predictions for Swansea v Leeds.

Swansea News and Form

It has been a good positive start for Swansea, just what they would have wanted after Premier League relegation last season. After landing back to back one-goal margin wins over Sheffield United and then Preston, the Swans were held to a 0-0 draw at Birmingham on the weekend. Overall it has been decent stuff played by them but just in the last two games, those questions about their goal output have crept back into play. Because this is a clash between two sides who have started well, we are going to have to look under 2.5 goals for our Swansea v Leeds betting tip which is at 17/20 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on August 19th, 2018 at 8:02 p.m.). Swansea have conceded just one goal this season in the league.

This is an important early clash and will test their defensive strengths on home soil. Swansea will need to avoid defeat to keep their good early momentum going. They have looked strong defensively and they are going to need to be dialled in against a free-scoring Leeds that will be showing up at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday. Even though Leeds have been scoring well we have to lean towards both teams not to score at 11/10 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on August 19th, 2018 at 8:02 p.m.). The reason for that is the strength of the Swansea defence and the fact that they don’t particularly look as if they are going to be scoring a ton of goals this season. Ollie McBurnie is their shortest priced option in the first goalscorer market for the game.

Leeds News and Form

Marcelo Bielsa often has that magic touch. He can drag teams into shape and his start at Leeds couldn’t have gone better. It is three wins from three in the Championship and throw on top an EFL Cup tie success as well and it has been a fine start. Leeds have scored at least two goals in each of their games played this season. Their season started with a 3-1 win at Elland Road over Stoke before hammering Derby 4-1 at Pride Park. So that start really attracted some attention. They continued their winning start with a comfortable a 2-0 win over Rotherham on the weekend. It says something about them that they are going to start this game as favourites.

Kemar Roofe is the top scorer in the league for Leeds this season as he has netted three times already. Roofe is the joint 5/1 first goalscorer favourite for the game* (Betting Odds were taken on August 19th, 2018 at 8:02 p.m.) alongside Patrick Bamford and Swansea’s McBurnie. Roofe is their top away scorer with two for Leeds. So they have some early wind in their sails and they look as if they are going to take some stopping. Buy Leeds fans don’t need too much reminding that winning streaks are hard to keep going and they fell apart after a positive start to last season. Twice last season they won four games on the bounce in the league. Leeds produced a W7 D3 L13 record away from home last season.

Swansea v Leeds Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between Swansea and Leeds since the 2010/11 Championship season. Home wins were traded that season and those are the only previous Championship meetings. Four of the last five games between the two have seen over 2.5 goals though and the Swans are undefeated in their last four home games against Leeds (W3 D1). There hasn’t been an away win in any meeting between them in the last nine fixtures.

Swansea v Leeds Predictions

Draw: You have the strong defence of Swansea going against a powerful Leeds attacking in his one and that may just cancel everything out at the end of the day. Leeds did have an extra game in midweek too so we can see the home side holding their ground. Draw.
