Tottenham looked set for a defeat on Wednesday night as they were trailing at home against Watford. But they rescued the situation within the last 10 minutes to get themselves an important three points. That turnaround gives Spurs back-to-back wins in the league and both of those wins incidentally were by a 2-1 scoreline.

Spurs have a home record of W7 L4 this season in the Premier League. Spurs had lost their previous two home games in the league before that dramatic turnaround against Watford. In terms of their push for a top-four finish this season, that was a big show of late character from the London club.

On home soil this season Spurs have come up with 20 goals, while they have conceded 11. They have only taken one clean sheet overall in their last five games home and away combined. Of their home games, this term, 64% of Tottenham’s fixtures have gone over 2.5 goals. They have managed to bank a clean sheet in 27% of their league home games.

They haven’t managed to take clean sheet in any of their last three at Wembley though. Spurs have conceded 64% of their home goals in the second half of fixtures. Few would have seen the shock that played itself out on Tuesday night at St James Park, coming. Newcastle were behind early in their home game against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City. But then the Magpies managed to make the most of a couple of chances gifted to them by the visitors, to post a 2-1 victory.

That really boosted their survival hopes, and it was their second win in a row in the top flight. Both of those wins were at home though, and their away form hasn’t been great this term. Newcastle have won just two away games all season in the top flight (D5 L4) and of the four defeats in that sequence, they were all against sides currently sitting in the top six in the table.

It’s not been a secret that Newcastle have really struggled in front of goal this season. On their travels, they have produced just the nine goals in their 11 fixtures. Less than half of their road games have gone over 2.5 goals this season. Newcastle are currently running on a three-match winless streak away from home, picking up just one point in that sequence.

They have failed to take clean sheet in any of their last three played, but they have overall, taken a clean sheet in 36% of away fixtures. 64% of Newcastle’s away goals have been conceded in the second half of fixtures while the Magpies have been level at the halftime break in all but four of their away games. Only Cardiff and Huddersfield have come up with fewer league goals this season in the EPL and Newcastle have.
