The Next Newcastle Manager situation is still up in the air at the moment. The Magpies are still looking to fill the gap left by Steve Bruce, as they seek the right man to take the club forward.

After their big takeover and injection of money, there is a long rebuilding process set to happen on Tyneside.

The latest name to be linked with the Magpies’ top job is former Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

Emery 7/4 FAV to be next Newcastle manager

Out of the blue, it is Villarreal boss Unai Emery who is the 7/4 favourite at bookmakers to be the next Newcastle manager* (odds recorded at 18:45 GMT on November 1st, 2021 at 888sport).

Steve Bruce parted ways with the club last month.

The rumours are that Newcastle have set themselves a deadline of the next international break to put a new boss in place.

There is a problem with the contract however for Emery.

He is signed up with Spanish club Villarreal until 2023.

So he would cost Newcastle a pretty package, but with the new Saudi owners, money may no longer be a big object for Newcastle.

Emery’s appealing track record

There is top-flight experience there from Emery who has managed Arsenal in the Premier League , PSG in Ligue 1 and both Sevilla and currently Villarreal in Spain.

The lure of Emery may be in all that experience as well as having delivered European silverware.

Emery won the Europa League three times with Sevilla and guided Villarreal to the title against Manchester United last season.

Other names in the running

Currently available for immediate hire is Paulo Fonseca who is a 6/1 option in the market* (odds recorded at 18:45 GMT on November 1st, 2021 at 888sport).

He left Roma in the summer after a couple of years spent at the Italian club.

The former Portugal defender’s name has been touted around a few Premier League managerial openings such as Tottenham and Wolves.

Speaking of Wolves, former manager Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked by Wolves on the weekend and may fall onto Newcastle’s immediate radar.

Former England midfielders Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have their names in the hat in the Next Newcastle Manager market.

Roberto Martinez is under contract with Belgium until after the 2022 World Cup which probably puts him out of the picture.

Former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is not in work currently after turning down the Celtic job in the summer.

Howe has a tremendous history of building teams, as he earned three promotions in a prosperous seven-year span with Bournemouth before the bubble eventually burst and the Cherries were relegated from the Premier League in 2020.

Newcastle in a relegation fight

The immediate concern for Newcastle is staying in the Premier League.

With that in mind, will they turn to someone with proven Premier League managerial experience, like Howe or Nuno?

Newcastle are a quote of 5/4 in the Premier League Relegation market at the moment, with only Norwich, Waterford and Burnley shorter odds.

The Magpies are currently second from the bottom in the table and after 10 rounds of action have yet to record a single victory (D4 L6).

Premier League Relegation Odds

Watford 8/13
Burnley 11/10

Whoever the Magpies turn to, there is a huge immediate survival job ahead for them. December’s forecast isn’t terrific either.

During December there is a four-match sequence where Newcastle face Leicester, Liverpool, Man City and then Man Utd in a tough run of games.
