The Masters golf betting 2021 is going to be one of the big highlights for the week in terms of sporting action.

This is the first Major of the year, but it was actually the final one of the disrupted 2020 calendar to be played, being hosted in mid-November.

Dustin Johnson ruled Augusta National in November and he is one of the front runners when the best in golf line up for a shot at the Green Jacket this week.

Will the American be able to defend his title?

We take a look at US Masters golf betting 2021 and see what may be in store at Augusta National this year?

US Masters Golf 2020 Review

Dustin Johson was one of the frontrunners in Masters Golf Betting last year and he got the job completed pretty comfortably in the end.

It was a 5-stroke victory that he took at the end of the tournament, finishing 20 under par.

The runners up were Im Sung-Jae and Cameron Smith.

The defending champion last year was Tiger Woods, who opened the tournament well, claiming a 68 in the first round, four off the lead at the end of day one.

But his challenge quickly fell away, notably scoring a 10 on the par-three 12th. Woods finished tied for 38th.

There was a lot of weather disruption last year at Augusta National because of the late start.

So the wind and rain played quite a role in the tournament. There were two amateurs last year who made the cut.

The Masters Field

Of the four Majors in golf, the US Masters has the smallest.

Who gets to play at the event is based on qualification criteria, despite the tournament actually being an invitational.

Some of the criteria includes being a past Masters Champion of having won the US Open within the previous five years. There are a lot of ways to get in, right down to invitational invitees.

Tiger Woods is not in the field for Masters Golf betting 2021.

Heading up the outright winner market is the reigning champion Dustin Johnson at 9/1* (odds recorded at 19:49 GMT on April 5th at Bet365).

He is the only man currently in single fixtures for the tournament outright betting market.

Tracking as one of the key players in the chasing pack is last year’s outright favourite Bryson Dechambeau.

There are 18 past champions lining up for the US Masters golf betting odds to consider.

Among those taking part alongside last year’s champion Dustin Johnso is Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth and Bubba Watson.

There is no Par 3 contest being played at the 2021 Masters.

Last 12 Winners of the US Masters

  • 2020- Dustin Johnson -20
  • 2019 – Tiger Woods -13
  • 2018 – Patrick Reed -15
  • 2017 – Sergio Garcia -9
  • 2016 – Danny Willett -5
  • 2015 – Jordan Spieth -18
  • 2014 – Bubba Watson -8
  • 2013 – Adam Scott -9
  • 2012 – Bubba Watson -10
  • 2011 – Charl Schwartzel -14
  • 2010 – Phil Mickelson -16
  • 2009 – Angel Cabrera -12

How to bet on the US Masters Golf 2021

There is the obvious outright market in play as the main option for US Masters Golf betting 2021.

But that can be a bit of a minefield. That’s a lot of players to try and cut through in order to select just the one man who is going to come through.

That’s a lot different from picking one of three outright options on a football fixture for example.

The each-way golf betting option does offer a slightly wider range when looking at how to bet on the US Masters 2021.

But there are alternative US Masters golf betting markets to scan through.

Top 10 Odds US Masters Golf Betting 2021

Dustin Johnson 5/6
Jordan Spieth 11/10
Justin Thomas 11/10
Jon Rahm 11/10
Bryson Dechambeau Evens
Rory McIlroy 6/4
Patrick Cantlay 7/4
Xander Schauffele 7/4
Brooks Koepka 5/2

Bet at Bet365

Among one of the most popular alternatives to the outright winner, there is The Top 10 market. That is selecting a player to finish, as the name states, inside the top ten. Most bookmakers will include tied finishes in that.

Naturally the odds are nowhere near as long as they are on a player in the tournament outfit for US Masters golf betting.

For example, Jordan Speith is an Even Money quote to finish in the top ten compared to 11/1 outright* (odds recorded at 19:49 GMT on April 5th at Bet365).

So this is a good way to size up one of the longer-priced players in the starting field, who could put together a strong tournament and scrap their way to a top ten finish.

There are other versions of this golf betting market around, such as Top 5 and Top 20.

Top European – US Masters Golf Betting 2021

John Rahm 10/3
Rory McIlroy 11/2
Paul Casey 10/1
Viktor Hovland 17/2
Matthew Fitzpatrick 12/1
Tyrrell Hatton 12/1
Sergio Garcia 11/1
Tommy Fleetwood 12/1
Lee Westwood 11/1

The Top European market for Masters golf betting breaks down the field to just European players.

For it, a punter picks which of those are likely to end up with the best result across the course of the tournament.

In the 2021 US Masters Top European market, John Rahm is the current favourite at 10/3* (odds recorded at 19:49 GMT on April 5th at Bet365).

To Make The Cut / To Miss The Cut

Another approach to US Masters golf betting 2021 would be to have a look at the To Make Cut market.

Some bookies will have it as the To Miss Cut market. Either way really, it’s just a preference on which approach you want to take for golf betting.

If you fancy one of the amateurs in the Masters 2021 field to qualify, such as Joe Long then he is a quote of 10/3 to make it to the weekend* (odds recorded at 19:49 GMT on April 5th at Bet365).

Similarly, if you expected one of the stronger players in the field to have a bit of a nightmare over the first two days and not make the cut, you could take an option such as Lee Westwood at 5/2* (odds recorded at 19:49 GMT on April 5th at Bet365).

First Round Leader

The First Round Leader market in golf betting, is perhaps the most popular alternative to the match outright.

It cuts the entire tournament down to just one round. The first.

The odds in the First Round Leader market are going to be longer than in the outright market.

For example for 2021 Masters Golf betting, Dustin Johnson is 16/1 to be leading after the first round* (odds recorded at 19:49 GMT on April 5th at Bet365).

That’s because in golf, it’s usually a slow burner that comes through for the title.

Whoever is sitting top of the leaderboard on day one, isn’t necessarily going to go on and win outright.

The outright winner has to put four solid rounds of golf together at the end of the day.

That’s a different kettle of fish to someone having a great opening day and then falling away.

First Round Leader US Masters 2021 odds

Jordan Spieth 16/1
Dustin Johnson 16/1
Justin Thomas 18/1
Bryson Dechambeau 18/1
Jon Rahm 20/1
Rory McIlroy 22/1
Patrick Cantlay 28/1
Xander Schauffele 28/1
Collin Morikawa 33/1
Brooks Koepka 33/1
