Watford v Chelsea Betting Tips – Premier League 5th February 8.00pm

Chelsea will be looking for a big response after producing a shocker at Stamford Bridge in midweek where they lost 3-0 against Bournemouth. The Blues couldn’t field a recognised striker for the match, but managed to draft in Olivier Giroud from Arsenal to give them a boost going forward. Watford drew 0-0 with Stoke in midweek, claiming their first point under new boss Javi Gracia. Will they be able to strike while Chelsea’s confidence is low?

Watford News and Form

The Hornets got themselves a point in midweek with a 0-0 draw out at Stoke. They are winless in their last five league games now though and since beating Newcastle back on November 25th, they have picked up just one league win. They’ve actually only won three times at Vicarage Road this season and they have taken just the one win in their last six at home, a 2-1 win over Leicester on December 26th. They may have failed to hit the back of the net in their last two league games, but they are on a seven-match scoring streak at home. However, they have conceded in each of their last six at home as well, so take a look at over 2.5 goals at William Hill for the game* (Betting Odds taken on February 1st, 2018 at 2:01 a.m.). There is a trend as each of Watford’s last four home fixtures have gone above the line. The Hornets have conceded an average of just over two goals per home game. Their league position up in 11th may look good, but they are only the four points away from the drop zone. A win here against the Blues would certainly lift their spirits.

Chelsea News and Form

What a nightmare the Blues had in midweek as they just totally fell apart and lost 3-0 at home against Bournemouth. Nothing at all was going for them and it was a shockingly bad defensive performance. The Blues didn’t have recognised striker to put on the pitch but in grabbing Olivier Giroud from Arsenal, they at least have an option to go with now, while Alvaro Morata works his way back to full fitness. Giroud is at even money odds at William Hill* (Betting Odds taken on February 1st, 2018 at 2:01 a.m.) to score on the weekend for his new club. Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four away games, winning two and drawing two of them. They recorded a huge positive in a 4-0 win at Brighton in their last away game and Chelsea have suffered just two league away defeats all season, both of those were only by a one-goal margin as well. Do they have response in them to what happened in midweek? Chelsea have taken six clean sheets in their last eight league games so that is a positive for them Chelsea to win to nil at William Hill, may still have some appeal and their midweek loss will have left a good price riding on that option. They will have a point to prove.

Watford v Chelsea Head to Head

The head to head is dominated by the Blues who have remained unbeaten in their last thirteen games against Watford now (W10D3). Chelsea have won three of their last four at Vicarage Road and home and away are on a three-match winning streak against the Hornets. The last time that Chelsea lost to Watford was back in the 1999 Premiership. Seven of the last eight meetings between the two clubs have gone over 2.5 goals.

Watford v Chelsea Predictions

Chelsea to win: No doubt Chelsea will be under a bit of pressure in this one. The midweek game didn’t go well at all for them, but there were a lot of distractions around and their lack of depth has been telling. Still, Watford are not exactly in form and while they will challenge, may fall short. Away win and both teams to score.
