Watford v Liverpool Betting Preview – Premier League 1st May 8.00pm

The Hornets were crushed 6-1 at Anfield earlier in the campaign, but they did beat Liverpool in their last home Premier League game against the Reds. Liverpool slipped up badly at home against Crystal Palace in their last outing and the Hornets are ticking along in good form at home at the moment, so this could be a pretty tight duel at Vicarage Road on Monday night.

Watford v Liverpool Betting Tips

There is still something for Watford to play for in this one because they can give themselves a top half of the table finish this season with a good run in. They have been in decent form at home lately too in the top flight. Watford are on a three-match winning streak at Vicarage Road and each of those wins in that sequence came with a clean sheet. The Hornets have lost just one of their seven on home soil in the top flight (W4 D2 L1) now so will put up a scrap. That having been said, when they went to Anfield earlier in the season, they were smashed 6-1 and the Hornets have lost five of their last six games against the Reds in the Premier League (W1). The win in that sequence did come in their last home game against them though, however, the last time that they earned back to back home games against the Reds was in 1983. Striker Troy Deeney is still looking for his first ever goal against Liverpool and he is a quote of 13/5 in the SkyBet anytime goalscorer market.

This is an important game for the Reds to go out and win because they lost their last league game, suffering a 2-1 loss at Anfield against Crystal Palace. In such a tight race for a top four finish, they need better than that. They have won their last two away games in the Premier League though and are unbeaten in three out on the road. Overall the Reds have just the one clean sheets in their last nine league games now and both teams to score in this one at SkyBet is a price of 4/5. With both Manchester United and Man City drawing on Sunday, Liverpool can take advantage of that with a good win in this one as they start the game in third anyway, just edging Man City on scoring, with the Red Devils a point back. Liverpool have won 10 of their previous 12 meetings with Watford in all competitions, losing just twice. In the SkyBet correct score market, a Liverpool 2-1 win is priced at 8/1.

Roberto Firmino has a bit of form against Watford with two goals in his last two Premier League games against Watford and he’s a price of 5/4 in the anytime goalscorer market, with Divock Origi at 13/10. Philippe Coutinho has scored in four of his last five league games (and he scored against Watford earlier in the season) and is a price of 8/5 to net. Liverpool have gone W8 D5 L4 out on the road this season, but they have only won just two of their last seven away from Anfield in the top-flight (D3 L2). All six of Liverpool’s Premier League defeats this season have come against teams outside of the current top 7 and very interestingly, Liverpool have won just 40 points from 22 Premier League games against teams outside the top 7 this season (1.82 per game), compared to 26 points from 12 games against the current top 7 (2.17 per game). Over 2.5 goals at SkyBet is a price of 8/11 because you imagine Liverpool will gun hard for this one. Watford have won just one of their previous ten Premier League games played on a Monday (D4 L5).

Watford v Liverpool Predictions

Liverpool Away Win: Even though Watford have won their last three home games, they haven’t played anyone of note. Liverpool will be keen to put that Palace defeat behind them and they can go and take the win at Vicarage Road.
