West Ham v Arsenal Betting Tips – Premier League 13th December 8.00pm

The Hammers pulled off a huge surprise on the weekend as they collected a home win over Chelsea. After scoring early they actually looked defensively well organised, perhaps for the first time this season, in holding the Blues at bay. Will they be able to build on that now as they face another London derby in midweek? Arsenal were frustrated in a 1-1 draw at Southampton the weekend, continuing their disappointing away form for the term.

West Ham News and Form

David Moyes got his breakthrough win as West Ham boss on the weekend as they sprung a surprise in a London derby against Chelsea. That snapped their eight match winless streak of form that they were on and they badly needed that to get a bit of belief back at least. They are now W3 D1 L3 at home this season in the top flight and the win over Chelsea snapped a three match streak without a home win that they were on. West Ham have scored in all but one of their seven home fixtures this season and both teams to score at Coral returns a price of 7/10. West Ham have only turned out the eight home goals though and just 43% of their home fixtures have gone over 2.5 goals. They have only been leading at half time in one home game so far, which was against Chelsea on the weekend. Over the course of the season, West Ham have scored just the six opening goals and they have relied heavily on home form with 77% of their points having been collected on home soil. Despite their clean sheet victory on the weekend, the Hammers have the worst defensive record in the top flight and have taken only five points  in their last eight games.

Arsenal News and Form

The Gunners couldn’t get the better of Southampton on the weekend, having to settle for a 1-1 draw on the south coast and that takes their away form to W2 D2 L4 out on the road this season. Their away form has been a real let down for them and their draw at St Mary’s leaves them winless in their last two Premier League matches. They have scored in each of their last five away games at least and in the Coral Correct score market an Arsenal 2-1 victory looks a pretty appealing price at 8/1 with the 1-1 draw at 7/1 standing out as an option as well. Olivier Giroud popped up with the late equaliser against Southampton on the weekend and he is a 10/11 anytime goalscorer option with only Alexandre Lacazette at a shorter price of 21/20. 78% of Arsenal’s away goals this term have come in the second half of matches while they have conceded 62% of their away goals in the second half of games as well. So a half time draw at Coral may not be too bad of an option. They have scored just two opening goals away from the Emirates so far and only Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez (two each) are the only two players for Arsenal to have scored more than one away goal for Arsenal this season. Just to sum things up, Arsenal have scored 21 goals at home in eight games, they have scored just nine in eight on the road.

West Ham v Arsenal Head to Head

The Gunners do have form going against West Ham having won five of their last six against them. They did the double over the Hammers last term. Arsenal though are only W2 D1 L1 in their last four overall against West Ham home and away. There has been a trend of goals in meetings between these two though as all but one of the last eleven have gone over 2.5 goals.

West Ham v Arsenal Predictions

Draw: The Hammers did a really good defensive job against a ragged Chelsea on the weekend and with Arsenal not going great guns away from home this season then there has to be some value in backing the draw in this one. Arsenal are still struggling to land that consistency on the road and despite their strong head to head against the Hammers, may come up just a little short.
