West Ham News and Form – Will West Ham get the better of Bournemouth?

So West Ham could wait no longer to make a change of manager. Out goes Manuel Pellegrini, back comes David Moyes, who did manage to get them safe in his first spell after the club had been in freefall under Slaven Bilic. Survival is the only thing on their mind right now. West Ham will start the new calendar year only a point above the drop zone, but with a game in hand over those beneath them. The Irons though have lost 9 of their last 12 league games.

West Ham have had no joy at home for a long time. They are on a four match losing streak on home soil, having only gone D1 L5 in their last six there. Overall, the Irons are W2 D1 L6 on home turf. They have produced an average of 1.3 goals per home fixture, but have shipped at an average of over two goals per game. They are flimsy at the back, having conceded at least two goals in seven of their last nine league games. West Ham have conceded at least two goals in each of their last four home games.

Bournemouth News and Form – Can Bournemouth beat West Ham?

The Cherries are in big trouble with form, just as West Ham are. The Cherries lost 2-0 at Brighton on Saturday which was their sixth defeat in their last eight played. Even though they have dug out recent points against Chelsea and Arsenal, overall they are looking poor. The away record that the Cherries have secured this season is W3 D1 L6. A big part of their problem has been producing any kind of clinical output in front of goal. They average just a goal per game in this campaign (home and away).

There is something positive on their side going into this away game however. In their three away games played this season against teams sat with them in the bottom six, the Cherries are unbeaten with a W2 D1 record from those. Eddie Howe’s men have taken two clean sheets away from home this season. But their current away form needs to be examined. They have lost four of their last five on the road now (W1). Each of their last four league games, home and away have gone under 2.5 goals. Given that they have played a game more than West Ham and only have a one point lead over them, this is a big pressure situation for the Cherries.

West Ham vs Bournemouth Predictions

Draw: So tough to pick a winner out of these two. Both are struggling badly at the moment, but the Cherries have shown the odd sign here and there they can dig in. A point out of this away game should be achievable. Draw.
