Grace could find US PGA favour at Baltusrol

Golf Betting

The US PGA Championship is probably the least prized of the season’s four Majors but still carries a purse that even the top players wouldn’t sniff at.

There have been some surprise winners down the years but the tournament has also witnessed the emergence of Rory McIlroy and Jack Nicklaus won it in 1980. Phil Mickelson was successful in 2007 and no-one would begrudge the veteran left-hander another Major triumph after his fantastic effort in defeat in the Open at Troon.

Mickelson is 25/1 with Unibet to win this week’s US PGA Championship. Register with Unibet and you could get “Bonus Money” refunded up to £30 if your first bet loses!

You can bet on a wide variety of sports. As a major player in the European market, the punter can bet on most sports including Tennis, Football, Golf and the Premier League were odds are especially competitive.

Unibet offer a far-reaching exposure to sports including e.g. all the chief American sports like Baseball, NFL, Ice hockey and many more.

To avail of this offer simply open a new account at Unibet and make your first bet. Unlike other bookmaker special offers this offer does not require any code but the Swedish betting site is not one of the several bookmakers paying out on seven places for each-way betting in the tournament at Baltusrol in Springfield, New Jersey.

Baltusrol is an old-fashioned, demanding course where low scores are fully earned. The rough is thick but the greens will be lightning-fast with sweltering conditions forecast. US Open winner Dustin Johnson is the general 8/1 favourite with McIlroy at 9/1 on betfair – that’s short enough for the latter who hasn’t really looked like winning any of the Majors over the last 12 months despite his fifth in the Open. Troon winner Henrik Stenson is a best 16/1 with Jason Day at a general 10/1 at Balustrol.

BRANDEN GRACE has already been tipped in some quarters and there is no denying that the South African looks exceptional value at the current 50/1 with most firms.

A dual winner on the US Tour in 2016, both on links-style courses, he’s been playing for consistently well in Majors over the last two years – finishing in the top five on three separate occasions.

Earlier this year, Grace followed a missed cut at Augusta with a US breakthrough win at Harbour Town so has ‘bouncebackability’. He was fifth in the US Open and Baltusrol’s fearsome bunkers will hold no fears. Mentally tough, he appears to have plenty in his favour.

I would also like to make a case again for Russell Knox, whom I fancied to play well at Troon. The general 125/1 looks too big for the Florida-based Scot who is steadily getting to grips with the Majors. Knox wasn’t disgraced in the Open having managed top-25 finish in the US Open previously and is another who will relish the challenge of Baltusrol.
