This is one of the weekend’s big fixtures from Cheltenham. It is The Cheltenham Chase, a Grade 2 fixture over a 2m distance.

This is open to 4 year olds and above and it is only a small field of five that will be running.

Heading the field currently, is DEFI DU SEUIL who will be looking to score on his reappearance.

The Phillip Hobbs gelding was the winner of last year’s race with Barry Geraghty in the saddle. Richard Johnson takes over for the defence.

Defi Du Seuil the 13/8 FAV for The Cheltenham Chase

Last year’s winner DEFI DU SEUIL is back for a defence in this fixture.

He got last year’s win in a field of four from an 11/8 SP.

This year he is currently running at 13/8 to follow up* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:22 GMT on Saturday, 14th November 2020).

He is a classy chaser and he will be looking for a bit of redemption as well.

Defi Du Seuil was last seen at the Cheltenham Festival in March when he didn’t live up to expectations in the Champion Chase. It was a fourth place finish there.

This will be his reappearance run and he is still the pick of the bunch.

He also scored wins in the Tingle Creek and the Clarence House Chase so knows how to do the business at Prestbury Park.

Defi Du Seuil has looked fantastic over the fences and is hard not to back.

Can Put The Kettle On follow up on Festival win?

It was a sparkling campaign from PUT THE KETTLE ON last time out. She was simply prolific scoring win after win.

That all culminated with a score in the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival in the Spring. That was over course and distance.

To be fair that wasn’t the strongest Arkle line up, so this is a much tougher field for Put The Kettle On to try and follow up.

But she’s a very bold runner and the mare’s jumping form was just sublime in the 2019/20 season.

He can’t be ruled out from 11/4* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:22 GMT on Saturday, 14th November 2020).

Rouge Vif the main threat to Defi Du Seuil?

ROUGE VIF commands a lot of respect for this contest.

He is currently at 4/1 and could be the one to roll with to oppose the favourite* (betting odds taken from ladbrokes at 19:22 GMT on Saturday, 14th November 2020).

Rouge Vif has had a reappearance run for the season and in that he picked up a win.

That victory happened in a handicap field over course and distance. That was just last month and it was a margin of victory by 8l over Western Miller.

Rouge Vif is massively progressive and while he is going up in the ratings, he looks a fantastic prospect.

He was in the Arkle at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival and collected a third place finish there.

We have to look back at the manner of success in that recent reappearance run. It was devastatingly good.

Can Riders Onthe Storm find more?

It’s hard to gauge what RIDERS ONTHE STORM could have done at the Ryanair Chase in March at the Festival.

He fell three from home and never got a chance to really launch his attack. But in the race before that, Riders Onthe Storm impressed.

He dug out a win in the Ascot Chase (Grade 1) a gruelling battle which secured a hattrick for him.

There is still plenty of ability there and in this small field the ex-Irish chaser cannot be dismissed even though this is a very tough race.

He could enter calculation from 9/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:22 GMT on Saturday, 14th November 2020).

Due Des Genievres the big outsider

As a 10/1 shot in the horse racing betting for this one, DUC DES GENIEVRES is the big outsider.

He will be having his first run for Paul Nicholls in this one and it is also his reappearance run. There are most firsts as well because this is his first run since wind surgery.

Duc Des Genievres will also have the hood for the first time. The last time he was seen was in a Grade 1 chase in March at Cheltenham.

He was a long way back of the winner in that contest. Duc Des Genievres needs a much bigger season.

He’s not really hit the heights since his 2019 Arkle success when he was with Willie Mullins.

Predictions & Tips for The Cheltenham Chase Racing Odds

The Cheltenham Chase is here once again and it’s such a strong field. A small field, but a strong one. There are plenty of claims.

We have to put DEFI DU SEUIL on the shortlist of course from 13/8 just because he is such a proven performer* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:22 GMT on Saturday, 14th November 2020).

He can be forgiven for his misfire in the Champion Chase because that was a rare off day for him.

The big interest we have though is in the progressive ROGUE VIF from 4/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:22 GMT on Saturday, 14th November 2020).

He’s very interesting and for our horse racing betting, we like the fact that he’s had a reappearance run as well. After a superb course and distance win, he could get close.
