A look at the super-competitive line up for the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham 2021

Horse Racing Betting

It’s the turn of the novices in the Albert Bartlett betting to take to the centre stage on Cheltenham Gold Cup day.

This is a popular Grade 1 race featuring some of the best novices knocking around the game at the 3m trip.

This is open to four-year-olds and above and for 2021 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle betting there are 17 declared runners.

STATTLER is the current market leader in a competitive market, which should see a brilliant race.

The winner of last year’s Albert Bartlett was MONKFISH from a 5/1 SP (P Townend / W P Mullins)

Stattler the 11/2 FAV for Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle betting

There is likely plenty of improvement still to come from STATTLER who is going the right way over the timbers.

Willie Mullins’ six-year-old is the current 11/2 favourite for this trip on Friday at Cheltenham 2021* (betting odds recorded at 21:24 GMT on March 18th, 2021 at Unibet).

He picked up hurdles win in a Leopardstown maiden on his penultimate run, before improving to take third to Gaillard du Mesnil in a Grade 1 back at the same venue.

The stamina should be there to handle this one. There are good strong claims for him on Friday having had Fakeira behind him last time out.

Alaphilippe
911/1

Torygraph can mount a strong challenge

One to watch in the market is TORYGRAPH who picked up a score at Thurles on his latest run.

Behind him in the fixture was a runner who has since gone on to place at Grade 3.

On the day, Torygraph had given that particular rival 12lb as well, and he has plenty of better days ahead of him as he pushes on.

He will be having his first run for Denise Foster in this fixture, but Torygraph is rapidly going on an upward curve.

The big test stamina on this three-mile trip is likely to play to his strengths.

The cheekpieces also go on for the first time and Torygraph appeals at 13/2* (betting odds recorded at 21:24 GMT on March 18th, 2021 at Unibet).

Can Adrimel stay undefeated over the hurdles?

ADRIMEL will put his unbeaten hurdles record on the line in this tough race. But he looks to have a chance of having a big say in this one.

He battled well to get a win in a Grade 2 Warwick fixture on his latest run, getting that score in that January fixture by a neck over Mint Condition.

He’s on the up as well and this sterner test of stamina is probably going to see him thrive even further.

Adrimel can’t be counted out of this as a 14/1 contender in Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle betting* (betting odds recorded at 21:24 GMT on March 18th, 2021 at Unibet).

The threat of Alaphilippe is very notable

ALAPAPHILLILE brings everything that you would be looking for in a selection to the table in this one.

He opened the season with three straight wins and is just kicking on further and further all of the time.

Alapahilppe has the stamina to spare and is such a strong traveller he may be hard to keep down in this fixture.

There is a quote of 11/1 on the win for Alaphilippe in Albert Bartlett betting* (betting odds recorded at 21:24 GMT on March 18th, 2021 at Unibet).

He warrants some respect. There was a win for him on his last run, which was a month ago at Haydock.

That was in the Prestige Hurdle to give him his third win in four hurdles efforts.

Alaphilippe crushed that Haydock field, winning by 14 lengths in the Grade 2 fixture. He has to be a big player.

Barbados Buck’s not without a say

A big challenger from Paul Nicholls in the Albert Bartlett on Friday is BARBADOS BUCK’S at 7/1* (betting odds recorded at 21:24 GMT on March 18th, 2021 at Unibet).

He completed a hattrick in his last run, scoring emphatically on a 3 mile trip in a Kempton novice back in January.

Given that, another bold effort is expected from him and he has plenty of improvement still in him.

That Kempton victory was by four lengths, as he delivered the odds as the 2/1 FAV in that contest and was under a double penalty for it as well.

Big claims.

Others to onte

FAKEIRA kicked off the season with back to back wins and saved his season’s best for his latest run.

He was fourth to Gaillard du Mesnil in a Leopardstown Grade 1 last month.

Now pushing on that stamina to a 3m trip, he should be in the business end of things.

This will be Fakeira’s first run for Denise Foster, who has two strong leading contenders in this along with Torygraph.

We can’t totally write off ASK A HONEY BEE who will have the cheekpieces on for the first time. He was a useful bumper winner and has shown some decent form this season.

Things went a little awry for Ask A Honey Bee in the River Don Hurdle for him last time out on a 3m trip as he didn’t complete. But place claims are a reasonable target in this.

Another who is not out to the picture is THE COB who won that River Don Hurdle contest at Doncaster back in January.

That was a good bold effort from him, taking The Cob to three wins in four contests this season. The test of stamina is right in his wheelhouse as well.

Paul Nicholls also has THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE in this, another with some decent place claims.

It’s three for three from him in this sphere after scoring a 3m trip at Musselburgh last month in a novice event. He goes up a lot in class here, but he isn’t without hope.

Another to consider in the Albert Bartlett betting market is STREETS OF DOYEN. He landed a four-timer with a score over course and distance in October.

Streets Of Doyen could get into the mix on a Grade 2 at Naas on his last month after a four-month break. But he could be sharper for that in this one.

Predictions & Tips for Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Racing Odds

What a tough field this is to pick apart. The first of our selections is going to be ALAPAPHILLIE who is an 11/1 quote* (betting odds recorded at 21:24 GMT on March 18th, 2021 at Unibet).

He looks like he is built for this contest and well like that he can be relied upon for stamina and he has been in top form in this campaign.

We would have to say that BARBADOS BUCK’S is probably going to be in the thick of this contest.

His emphatic score at Kempton in January was highly impressive. So we have to lean towards him as he looks for a four-timer.

The other for the shortlist is going to be the 14/1 shot ADRIMEL* (betting odds recorded at 21:24 GMT on March 18th, 2021 at Unibet).

We think that his improving stamina is really going to be a feature of a run here and is worth some e/w considerations.
