Race 5 from Windsor on Saturday is the big August Stakes which is a Listed Class 1 fixture at the track.
There is a tight market as well for the trip which is just being headed up currently by DESERT ENCOUNTER.
Last year’s winner of this was RAAKIB ALHAWA from a 7/2 SP (J P Spencer / D M Simcock).

Desert Encounter the narrow 11/4 favourite for Windsor August Stakes
DESERT ENCOUNTER is a former course and distance winner. He is on the upward trend of form at the moment. The pinnacle of that came in the Glorious Stakes at Goodwood a month ago.
He was a very good second there to Pablo Escobar, even though it wasn’t particularly his type of race.
He has won this race before, which is where his C&D comes from and the eight-year-old should be back in the frame from 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:57 GMT on Friday, 28th August 2020)
Le Don De Vie on the up
There has been some rapid improvement from LE DON DE VIE which puts him in the frame in this one. He was last seen at Glorious Goodwood a month ago in the Glorious Stakes.
He was third there, immediately behind DESERT ENCOUNTER, so he should be able to push the favourite close once again.
There is a big chance that the conditions at Windsor, getting towards heavy on Saturday, is going to suit Le Don De Vie more than the favourite so he can’t be ignored from 9/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:57 GMT on Friday, 28th August 2020).
Floating Artist will have appeal in the small field
FLOATING ARTIST has been gelded since his last trip. He has been away for over two months now, not having been seen since he placed 5th at Royal Ascot.
There should be further progress from him after his operation.
Further boosting his claims is that Fujairah Prince, who beat him at Royal Ascot, went on to win the Ebor.

Alounak’s last run can be excused
ALOUNAK didn’t get the cleanest of chances on his last trip in the Glorious Goodwood Glorious Stakes. So he is up against a lot of the same players here.
He hit some trouble in the race, but prior to that, he had been shaping really well. There’s no particular reason to dismiss his chances in this one if things go his way.
Alounak has a big chance with his best form and is a 10/3 option* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:57 GMT on Friday, 28th August 2020).
Communique busy but ineffective
There has been a lot of work put in by COMMUNIQUE this season, but without great effort. He has taken a runner up spot in two of his last four fixtures.
But based on his last two races, the most recent of which being in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury a couple of weeks ago, he’s not the most appealing of picks in a competitive field.
Sextant also looking for more
SEXTANT was in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury along with Communique and had similar problems. He never managed to get himself in any kind of position to launch an attack.
He was almost 10 lengths back of the winner on the day there which pushes away the appeal. The interesting thing is that he is a previous course and distance winner.

This is just a wide-open contest and it’s hard to pick one out of the pack. A lot of the main contenders are all familiar with each other after the Glorious Stakes.
DESERT ENCOUNTER came out on top that day, but we have to swing this rematch to LE DON DE VIE as the conditions are just a little more likely to be on his side.
There are so many big players in this one and we like the value of FLOATING ARTIST making a run at the top three as well.
