The top fixture of Wednesday’s UK Racing action comes from Newbury. It’s the Challow Novices’ Hurdle racing odds that we are looking at in this preview.

There are 7 declared runners for this Grade 1 contest over a 2m 4f contest.

It’s a good competitive renewal of the fixture as well with the claims running deep.

We look at each of the runners in the Challow Novices’ Hurdle racing preview.

Stage Star 13/8 FAV in Challow Novices’ Hurdle Racing Odds

Heading up the horse racing betting market for this one currently is STAGE STAR who is in hot form at the moment.

Stage Star is a current quote of 13/8* (odds recorded at 21:38 GMT on December 28th, 2021 at Coral).

The former bumper winner has really kicked on well this year.

It has been two wins from two over the hurdles from him and the most recent of those was a course and distance success here at Newbury.

He bolted up in that one to claim the win by a margin of 8 lengths having been a heavy odds-on favourite.

Stage Star does come up a long way in grade, but given the rapid progress that he has been making, is well worth his place in this one.

It is a very competitive line up that he is facing, however.

LOSSIEMOUTH
3/1

Coral

Lossiemouth rates as a danger

There is some very good form for LOSSIEMOUTH looking back at his recent efforts. He completed a hattrick last time out.

That was achieved at Sandown earlier this month on a novices’ hurdle run at Sandown.

So that current thriving form by Lossiemouth means that he clearly rates as a danger from 3/1 in Challow Novices’ Hurdle betting* (odds recorded at 21:38 GMT on December 28th, 2021 at Coral).

All it took to kick him into life was the application of the blinkers.

That recent Grade 2 Winter Novices’ Hurdle win gives him a big shot at this one.

The win came by 14 lengths for Lossiemouth and that was after being eased back as well, so realistically it was a wider margin.

Gringo D’aubrelle is not without a chance

Arriving at Newbury on Wednesday in the Challow Novices’ looking for a hat trick is GRINGO D’AUBRELLE.

There has been solid progress made by the former bumper winner.

He got off the mark over the hurdles at Fairyhouse last month, and looks to be heading in the right direction for a top yard.

That yard may well have had this run specifically in mind for Gringo D’Aubrelle.

After that maiden hurdle success, it will be interesting to see if he can push on further.

Gringo D’Aubrelle is at 4/1 in horse racing betting* (odds recorded at 21:38 GMT on December 28th, 2021 at Coral).

Can West Balboa make the most of weight advantage?

WEST BALBOA is a very interesting contender in the Challow Novices’ Hurdle at Newbury.

She receives 7lb from the rest of the field as she makes just her third appearance.

West Balboa opened her campaign with a runner up finish in a point effort.

Then on her hurdles debut she collected a win at Warwick.

That was an impressive run 42 days ago by West Balboa. She took the victory by 17 lengths.

The unexposed mare is now rapidly moved up a long way in class, but she looks like a good one for a top yard.

West Balboa is a quote of 8/1 to land the score* (odds recorded at 21:38 GMT on December 28th, 2021 at Coral).

Rest of the Runners

GO DANTE is not a totally forlorn hope in this line-up. He’s unexposed but has looked impressive with what he has done so far. He took a great bumper win on his first appearance.

Then Go Dante delivered a win at the first time of asking over the hurdles. He wasn’t quite as progressive at Ascot next time out but the extra trip may help.

HIGH STAKES had a fantastic previous season, winning four times in Irish points. There was a credible second-place finish at Ayr for High Stakes last time out on the first run for a new yard.

But on the evidence of his form, he could have something to find.

PARTY BUSINESS picked up a victory at Ascot 12 days ago. That was not as strong of a race as this one is going to be on Wednesday.

That’s not to say that Party Business doesn’t have further progress in him, he does, but he will need to come a long way from the promising hurdles opener.

Predictions & Tips for Challow Novices’ Hurdle Racing Odds

This should be a wonderful contest and our pick for success is LOSSIEMOUTH at 3/1* (odds recorded at 21:38 GMT on December 28th, 2021 at Coral).

His form just looks a little superior to that of the rest of the key contenders and if he continues in the same way he approached the Winter Novices’ Hurdle, he could take this.

STAGE STAR rates as an obvious threat in the field after picking up a win in his last two. The fact that the latest was an easy score at course and distance gives him obvious claims.

The other interesting one for horse racing betting is WEST BALBOA. She looks full of potentiality and that winning debut at Warwick in November was highly impressive.
