One Ruler is the 15/8 FAV for Flying Scotsman Stakes

So heading up the market for this 2-year-old only contest is ONE RULER at 15/8* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, September 10th 2020).

He will be making his third racetrack appearance

After a promising debut he took things further by scoring a win at Sandown in a 7f trip (his debut was at the same course and distance).

There was plenty of speed laid down by One Ruler there which gives him big claims for this one.

Apollo One
11/1

Ladbrokes

Apollo One to launch a bold challenge

APOLLO ONE looks a pretty decent fit for this race. He got things off to a winning start on his debut, enjoying the fast conditions in a Newmarket novice race.

Following that score, he was immediately thrown in a Group 3 fixture and he actually didn’t look out of place there at all.

He took the race on from the front and ended up in third place at the Solario Stakes.

There aren’t bad each-way claims there from 12/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, September 10th 2020).

Spycatcher to thrive on drop in class?

SPYCATCHER looks to be an obvious threat in this field as he looks for his first score. It was a debut to forget for him at Redcar, but his following race was wonderful.

He claimed second place at the Acomb Stakes, but shaped absolutely brilliantly in it. It was a performance miles away from that debut at York.

The slight drop in class could play into his hands and he is the current 7/2 second-favourite* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, September 10th 2020).

New Mandate to make it back to back wins?

NEW MANDATE got off the mark at the third time of asking and will be in the good hands of Frankie Dettori for this one.

He was in the places for his first two races, competitive races at that as well. He then got his score at Sandown on a nursery debut.

That was at a 7f trip and he looked to have plenty left in him as well. Not to be counted out of the picture at all, New Mandate is a current 11/1 option* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, September 10th 2020).

Royal Scimitar to cut through the field?

A very interesting entry into this field is ROYAL SCIMITAR at 15/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, September 10th 2020).

He got things off to a winning start with a score in a Newbury novice in August.

He was then sent to the Acomb at York where he looked a little bit one-paced on the day.

But he takes the slight drop back in class after that fourth-place effort which could see him in contention. That experience over 7f will have helped him.

Rest of the Runners

DARVEL was last seen in the Acomb where he made absolutely no impression whatsoever, labouring home in seventh place. He got off the mark the race before that (his second racetrack appearance) at Ayr. Looks to have a lot of find for this one.

FOUNTAIN CROSS brings plenty to the table in terms of racetrack experience as this will be his seventh run. It has been the one win secured for him so far, which happened at the second time of asking.

In the Vintage Stakes (Group 2) at Goodwood Fountain Cross put together a surprisingly good run to finish in the middle of a pack of 10, but fell a bit flat at Ripon afterwards having been moved back to a 6f trip. Place claims could be there.

LANEQASH scored on his debut and he had plenty of support on his side for that one, a novice trip at Ascot in August. It was a victory by a 3 length margin in that one on firmer ground, however.

ROUND SIX will need to find a little more. He was never in contention on his debut, taking sixth place at Salisbury. But he then seemed to find a little more maturity on his second effort when he scored a novice event on the all-weather. He may have a few of these to have a bad trip however.

QUIET ASSASSIN duly delivered a well-backed debut in wat Beverley a couple of weeks ago. She is taking on a big hike in class here and that’s probably going to leave her short of anything required to get in the places.

THANK YOU NEXT has a little more experience on her side, having claimed two wins from five runs. She looks a consistent sort but never looked like scoring on her last run. That was in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood on a 7f trip, where she settled for fourth.

Predictions & Tips for Flying Scotsman Stakes Racing Odds

This should shape up as a competitive juvenile contest and we can’t look past ONE RULER to start with.

He only found Etonian too good on his debut (who has since won at Group 3) and following his score back at the track, One Ruler should be a major player here at 15/8* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:37 GMT on Thursday, September 10th 2020).

APOLLO ONE ran very well up at Group 3 last time out and looked bold enough to shake up the field from the front, so we have to pull him into consideration as well.

After his performance at the Acomb, SPYCATCHER looks another competitive one.

The other one pick that we will make for the Flying Scotsman Stakes is NEW MANDATE who has been giving a very good account of himself in some tough races.

There should be plenty more to come from him after getting off the mark last time out with plenty to spare.
